BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

Album: 20 Jazz Funk Greats [Remaster]

My taste is pretty eclectic. But that can be a problem. Over the years, I can find myself avidly listening to a bunch of good things, while other good stuff passes me by, simply cos there aren't enough hours in the day. So I still find stuff from years back on a regular basis, which slipped through the net. I saw Psychic TV a couple of times in the 80s, most notably a manic gig at Manchester Poly around 89ish, which turned acoustic when the venue pulled the plug after about 4 hours. I also saw Chris and Cosey play an electronica festival, which gave me great pleasure watching their p0rno-shock projections turn most of the audience off! But never really spent much time with the back catalog until now... But have now played Throbbing Gristle's near-perfect subversion "20 Jazz Funk Greats" daily for about a fortnight. How different my life might've been if I'd heard that in 1979... I'm currently stuck in a timewarp of sorts, listening to Cabaret Voltaire, Fad Gadget and Einstuerzende Neubaten as if they were fresh and new. But all this doesn't hide the fact that I secretly hate all my friends and favourite DJs for not turning me on to any of this earlier!

20 Jazz Funk Greats is a great album. There is also a brand new Psychic TV album coming out that i'm quite looking forward to hearing.
