The Name of the Staircase is Funky Funky Staircase

An early funk album by Bill Cosby -- with backing by the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band. Bill was pals with Charles Wright and crew in the hip LA of the late 60s, and he was also responsible for bringing the group to Warner Brothers - so the fit here is quite a natural one. The record was also produced by Fred Smith who handled the Watts Band's albums, and it's got a very similar feel to their classics for Warner from the late 60s (but with Bill Cosby stepping out in front on vocals, in a similar style to Charles Wright). Cosby's singing is often a bit goofy, but works beautifully with the stoned to the bone feel of the group.via "Dusty Groove America":http://dustygroove.com

    deadmandeadman says I remember this gettin' a lot of airplay. Its still a delight. I never appreciated until this evening the quality of the music. (I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.) A nice little reminder, you're on a roll this eve, Reckon.

    Mike the Knife says No shock that my phellow Philly dawg Cos funks the house. Remember "Hicky-Burr"? That jam, with Quincy Jones, was the theme to Cosby's first sit-com from way back in the day (1969). That was also around the same time that Cosby first teamed up with the Watts 103rd St Rhythm Band and came up with the hit single "Little Old Man," which reworked Stevie Wonder's "Uptight" as the chorus.
