So I was on the net trying to keep myself awake and found out that not only Bonnaroo was this weekend -which is such a bummer cuz it kinda was in my plans earlier this year- but M.I.A. announced she was retiring??? what the fucking hell is going on?
But then I "investigated" a bit more and this is what I found on Stereogum

Now, it sure must be really cool to have a job you love, but I can totally understand how someone can get bored/frustrated of doing the same thing over and over again for a while so, good for her.

I think that shows how much of a real person she is. I went on tour with a group once for about 2 months, and as much fun as it can be, that shit is exhausting and draining. It is very surreal and almost brings about a drug induced feeling after the fifth week. Some groups tour all year, and if you are single and young, sometimes that can be fun. However sometimes you can lose yourself in the whole thing (and I am saying this simply as a tour manager and not as an artist. I can only imagine they endure more than we do).
If any of you have ever been on an extended trip or vacation, you would know the feeling. Traveling and moving around is fun, but there is nothing like home... so the saying goes. It is where all of your familiarity and comfort lies. It is a place of peace (hopefully) where you can collect and gather your thoughts.
Besides, you M.I.A fans should be happy. She is headed back to record a new album ; )
