What music puts you to sleep?

Posted over 5 years ago
I am a someone who requires a bit of music to put me to sleep. It is interesting to think what is the best type of music to put you to sleep, so some of my favourites are Radiohead's Kid A, DJ Shadow's Endtroducing... and Preemptive Strike, Four Tet's Rounds, Pink Floyd's TDSOTM and Meddle, Boards of Canada's MHARTC and The Campfire Headphase, Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, Brian Eno's Music for Airports, Jeff Buckley's Grace and Autechre's Amber.

  3. Brett Schieber says Yes, the Sundays always give me good sleep too. What ever happened to them? They just disappeared! I also love sleeping to music by Jump, Little Children (the Dock Street cds, in particular), Morcheeba's "The Big Calm", and lately "White Limosine" by Duncan Sheik ("The Dawn's Request" and "Star Fields on Red Lines" especially).

  4. ciaran says The Sundays were probably the most relaxed band ever - 3 albums since 1989, with 3 years between the 1st 2, and 5 between the 2nd and 3rd..

  5. earthbound says Deftones - White Pony and Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works (both volumes) put me to sleep quite well. Of the albums you mentioned, Kid A, Music for Airports and Endtroducing have all done the trick.

  6. blueone51 says I’m on the road for business frequently and it seems that all hotel chains buy their heating and a/c units from the Annoying Ambient Noise Corp. ‘90’s brit shoegaze bands like the Darling Buds and Lush seem to have just the right vibe to cancel out the hvac hum.

  11. Kathleen says Anything piano - based is nice for sleeping. I also think Kid A is a good choice, along with Pink Floyd (but I'd lean more toward Animals at bedtime). Comets on Fire is something I've just begun to listen to, and I think it'll be my beddy-by music tonight.

  12. frankym says Try listening to some Nektar. But Dark Side of the Moon Live is good. And of course there's Tangerine Dream.
