WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Christmas in July

Posted over 2 years ago
After months of waiting I finally got my hands on the new Against Me! album, and needless to say it blew me away. I will have to write an review on it, but right now I am enjoying listening to it for the first time. Its like nothing they have ever put out, and by far the best album I have heard this year. Nothing like an early birthday present for me, gotta say thanks to the boys of Against Me!I will now post my favorite song off the album, its about summer romance and includes guest vocals by Tegan Quin of Tegan and Sara fame. The lyrics are as follows. No, it's not what we meant to say.We don’t really love each other. What happens when the summer’s over? How long before distance becomes a chore?I'm approaching with great, great trepidation.I hope you’ll understand. Before you speak think about what you're trying to say.Who else is there to blame for miscommunication? You're getting caught up in the excitement. You making promises you can’t keep. You need to leave all your options open.Too much momentum. This room feels like it's going to explode.Too many angles.Too many factors to cover.Waiting for signal. You're searching for network. You have to fight to stay in control of the situation.Anxiety, Anxiety you give me no mercy.Grind my teeth smooth and flat in my sleep. We took some pills to calm us down. Then we needed help to come back up.Just trying to stay in control of the situation.Too much momentum. This room feels like it's going to explode.Too many angles.Too many factors to cover.Waiting for signal. You're searching for network. You have to fight to stay in control of the situation. They fall apart so easily.Too much momentum. This room feels like it's going to explode.Too many angles.Too many factors to cover.Waiting for signal. You're searching for network. You have to fight to stay in control. You have to fight to stay in control. No, you don’t have to fight to stay in control of the situation.

  3. Lizziegreeneyes says Amazing song Kev - if the rest of the album is as good as this... hot damn that is a truly "feel good hit of the summer" - 2007 Really like the juxtaposition of the vocals... completely different from what I was expecting as well - very cool, good on the boyz of Against Me! this is one I'll replay a few times... will look forward to a full report later Kiddo :)

  5. tybees says I posted that^ comment before I actually listened to the song, and just wanted to add that I LOVE it! I've never really been into this band based on what I'd heard before, but that is a stellar track. Lizzie's right - this has "feel good hit of the summer" written all over it.

  7. Betherz247 says This reminds me of when I saw them two summers ago in a completely packed to the gills Gabe's Oasis (RIP) during probably the hottest day of July and probably all of summer. They Played with Blood Brothers and the Plot to Blow Up the Eifel Tower. and everyone was so hot, sweaty, sticking to eachother and rocking out hardcore that no one really cared anymore, it sounds kinda gross but it was frickin great! Love the new song

  8. Augusts1 says Sounds really great Kev! I _know_ you've been waiting for this for quite some time so I'm glad the wait is over finally. Like Lizzie said I'm liking the mix of the two voices since they are so different yet work so well together. Merry Xmas tripbro!
