Iggy Pop reduced down to hobbit size

Posted over 2 years ago
'Lord Of The Rings' star Elijah Wood is set to play Iggy Pop in a movie about his life. The biopic, entitled 'The Passenger', concentrates on Pop's early career with The Stooges, and is set to begin filming within six months. According to Variety, Pop has "given his blessing" to the project but will not take part in any of the filming. Maybe its just me, but I dont know how good of a pairing this is, I like them both but not together.

  10. Augusts1 says Elijah is a great actor so I have no doubt that he will do an awesome job of being Iggy! Besides how difficult will it be to act like you're in a constant drug stupor 24/7, heh!

  11. Rawkkiddoh says I have not doubt that he will be able to do it, after I saw the movie Everything Is Illuminated, however when ever I see him on the big screen something screams hobbit

  13. colizzle says Elijah Wood will need to lose 60-70 lbs. Mary Kate Olsen might have been a better choice. That is all.

  14. Lizziegreeneyes says Teach: *Shut up* ... _*I*_ was going to mention Everything is Illuminated - dude this diary-reading/mind-reading is getting a little outta hand, dontcha think ... I also remember him from Radio Flyer ... I love the kid, talent by the buckets full ... I'm going to let this brew a bit before I decide where I lie in the will he/won't he though ... That is one of my favorite movies ... what a film ... Liev Schreiber is a genius director - his first - he hit it out of the park !!!

  17. brickbat says has someone told wood about that period of pop's life where he hung out exclusively with the gay community, dressed as a woman, and pretty much forgot who he was? or maybe just the bits about rolling in glass? anyone? yeah. i didn't think so either. don't get me wrong, this punk thinks pop is a rock god. but....elijah wood? i'm supposed to believe that?

  18. Rawkkiddoh says maybe he is looking for a break out role, I will say the two look alike in those photos, minus the space in Elijah's teeth
    Permalink posted 05/20/2007
  19. teejaleo says has that space always been there? thats something I thought I would have noticed before...I don't know about him playing Iggy Pop, but who knows. And to brickbat- I'm sure Elijah is no stranger to the gay community and dressing like a woman, we all saw flipper...

  20. emit says Hmmmm, wait until the make-up artists (and the frame-by-frame Photoshop job) do their thang... Now, if we could only be sure they came up with a decent script for this...

  21. bloodtea says That's great! (although I'm concerned with Elijah... well.. probably it's nothing) "_All of it was made for you and me 'Cause it just belongs to you and me So let's take a ride and see what's mine Singing... la la la la lalalala..._" ;)

  26. lucyintheskies says hmmm. interesting choice. i'm always a supporter of breaking out of molds and stereotypes. i'm sure he would love to not have hobbit be the first thing people think, though admittedly it is. i'd be curious to see how this plays out. i love iggy. lucy.

  27. PopeyePete says I remember hearing about this awhile ago. Elijah certainly doesnt seem anything like him in real life. Its not even like a Val Kilmer-Jim Morrison thing. This is totally unexpected bit of casting, but I'm def interested in seeing how it turns out.
