WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Hot Potato Part Deux

Posted over 2 years ago
Just woke up, and read through the list of comments on my previous post. If you are wondering what the game of hot potato is all about, click here...........http://mog.com/blog_post/view/64784So far I have gotten 9 emails confirming people’s involvement and I think it’s a great start. I am going to add a few things to the "rules" and here is goes.Musical themes to choose from:Monday – AcousticTuesday – PunkWednesday – Indie (thanks Angel)Thursday – Hip HopFriday – FunkSaturday – Live recording (thanks Zero)Sunday – CoversOther ideas:electronic/remix/fusion (thanks cipher)Shoegaze Saturdays (thanks Dale and Chucky)To address Taylspin's question, once you get the cd with the songs on it, you upload those tracks onto your computer. Then when you burn the forwarding cd, you include what ever song you want to add to the mix and send it along.I also saw a few people wanting to do the whole thing digitally, and for me that defeats the purpose. It seems everyone is happy these days just to rely on emails and the internet. I love getting mail, especially when it’s something you are looking forward to. Once everyone is signed up, I will have a list of where the cd is going, and where it has been. Like in MOG Wars, I will expect people to email me when they send it off, and when they receive it in the mail. While it would be easy to just have everyone post all their songs on a site like Multiply, this will be a little more suspenseful. People who add music early on will have no idea what the final track listing will be. People who have to add their songs near the end may change what kind of music they put on because of what it already on there. Once the last person has added their music, and it’s sent to me I will go forward with cover art, and will make an MP3 cd to send out. I hope that covers everything, and I hope to see more mog mails with people saying they are in. Remember no mogmail, no hot potato game.

  1. chulsmith says unfortunately for me, i'll have to opt out. takes a week get mail from the states and costs me $8 USD to send a cd in the mail - and that's only to the UK! anyway, if round two goes electronically, count me in. have fun! ps. when all is said and done, someone up it so i can get the finished product. yeah, i guess you could call this cheating, but i like to call it... um... sharing.

  3. mktackabery says well as you know rawk i am in. i agree, there is something cool about getting the cd in the mail, and also just making the thing yourself, it's just cool to do something for your friends and peeps. :)

  4. TroyPowers says While I do agree that there's a certain something that goes with sending it through the mail, it also sucks that our moggers across the water are excluded. :( But, I completely feel you. It's always cool to get a surprise in the mail. Then, just the thought that this particular group of songs has traveled all over the world is just good ol' fun! I'm so torn. Hmmmm...there's gotta be an answer. Great idea though, RK. What the hell do you do for a living?

  5. SamTheButcher says What about Ladies' Night? Or Day, as it were. Ooo, and oldies day is a cool idea. But I guess the idea started as genres, not times or genders.

  6. Rawkkiddoh says I wanted to get a few ideas out there to begin with, if this thing takes off, then we can get even more creative with the themes of the cds. I am not excluding the over seas moggers as well, the way I see it we can figure out the cheapest way to get the mix cd going around the country and if need be, I will gladly be the one who sends it over seas. Last time I sent one it cost me about 7 bucks, small price to pay for a little fun. Oh and Troy, I am an elementary school teacher.

  7. Taylspin says I agree with mktackaberry - I am ALL for getting a CD in the mail, rather than getting something digitally! It makes it so much more exciting! Did anyone else have that children's book when they were little called "Free stuff for kids" or something, with a list of places you could write to and get free junk? I was obsessed with that! I wrote letters all the time to receive dumb coupons and plastic bookmarks and crap. So this will be a huge step up! HAHA!
