MUSIC CHATTER AND MATTER

So you think you are hardcore?

Posted over 2 years ago
Legendary Washington hardcore pioneers Bad Brains have announced they have signed a deal with Megaforce Records. The label will be releasing the bands new record, produced by Beastie Boy Adam Yauch no less!, which should see the light of day in the spring. This will be followed by a world tour which will include some major festival appearances. Might we see them at Coachella, or that Bonnaroo thingy everyone is talking about? I guess only time will tell, until then chalk up another can't wait for album of 2007.

  9. 1234chainsaw says Now that is some exciting news. Just watched the American Hardcore DVD earlier this week, and the Bad Brains live clips were extremely powerful. The docu itself has its ups and downs, but anyone with even a passing interest in Bad Brains, Black Flag, Minor Threat, etc. should add it to their NetFlix queue.

  18. kaluss says i'm not that hardcore...but i can be, as no one is around to see. the beastie boys' early stuff is super raw, super hardcore - brooklyn garage music. find a song called ''egg raid on mojo'' and some other early stuff. bad brains with jr might be hardcore again too. we'll see.

  19. Rawkkiddoh says ha marta, I think you score points in the hardcore book for that one. Kaluss, the older beastie boy stuff was quite good, egg raid was a solid track.

  20. wev says i'm hardcore...like a powerpuff girl. this sounds like a great colaboration. i can't wait to hear the result. also, bonnaroo used to be a big hippie/jam band festival in the middle of now where (manchester tn to be exact) last year was the first time there were a decent number of acts that weren't wsp like. this year, headliners include the police and tool (and wsp). you pretty much have to camp from what i understand and it's not a cheap undertaking as you have to bring everything since it's in the middle of no where. however, since large acts often skip over the bible belt, bonnaroo is one of the few things we have to look forward to. =)

  22. leftoverking says out of of the hundreds of shows i have seen, bad brains was one of the best live acts around. thes best part was it wasn't all hardcore punk, some genuine reggae too, and fans from all walks of life.
