WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Hey Al Gore, you can kiss my ass

Posted over 2 years ago
Yeah I said it, Al and all his talk about global warming is nothing more than a bunch of lies as far as I am concerned. Actually, I am a firm believer in global warming but seeing the snow come down for the last 15 hours makes me wish it had more of an effect on the current weather conditions in Minnesota. I guess we are having a blizzard that will rank in the top 5 snow storms of all time for this great state. Right now I would love to be in a place that is warm, and not cold with 14 inches of snow on the ground. I have spent most of my day listening to my ipod and shoveling the white stuff off my driveway. Songs have filtered in and out of my head, and its funny how some seem so appropriate when doing a task such as shoveling. One such song was Baby I'm An Anarchist, and when it came on I took a seat in the snow bank and just listened. It was nice; the snow has a way of making everything quiet and peaceful while the voice of Tom Gabel is the exact opposite of that type of feeling. It made my night, just to have that one moment of music and nature. I have posted some pictures as a means to say screw you to all of you moggers who are living it up in warm weather. Hope everyone is having a great night, and to everyone in the Midwest try and stay warm.

  2. Rawkkiddoh says Read that crash, as well as an article that says the earth will no longer exist in the year 2012. This was in Macleans, which is Canada's leading magazine publication. As for right now, I would kill for some tasty waves and a cool buzz.

  5. chucky says We got a good healthy dumping of snow (for us anyway) last Saturday into Sunday morning. My husband and I stayed at a hotel that night to have some alone time and woke up to 8" of snow on the ground, wondering how we were going to get home. Turns out the snow was all light and fluffy. It had all melted by yesterday and it's raining right now. A balmy 50 odd degrees - woohoo! I'll take it.

  6. Rawkkiddoh says Ash, I would kill for 50 degrees and light snow. The stuff we are getting is wet and heavy and the snowblower does not do a good job on it.

  7. jameson says Rhode Island has had about 5 inches of snow this year. The abnormal levels of Dunkin Donuts must somehow be contributing to that.

  8. CrashPryor says dude, actually it was 63 degrees but at night it "drops" down to the low 40's-- I know it doesn't sound like much in comparison (it isn't) but the thing is, when you get acclimated to the weather out here...you become a meteorlogical wuss, as I was telling someone earlier who's stuck out around your region...but you already know how I feel about the cold, crisp winters...I don't trust air I can't see...(joke)...

  11. Rawkkiddoh says jameson it will get even worse when you start getting tim hortons in I. Crash, had a friend move to Texas. After being there a year, he came back to minnesota and could not take the coldness anymore. He looked into it and I guess it has something to do with the thickness of your blood. Right about now I am guessing my blood is like Ragu. David, I sent you a mog mail, still no notifications on any of these posts. August, I agree never liked rain that much. Sideways rain is even worse.

  13. Iren says Yeah, it's been snowing, but at least the temp is above zero and has been for the last couple of days... I've said it a million time.. I don't mind the cold... I don't mind the snow, it's the ice and the wind. Luckily for me I didn't have to go out today, but I have to work in 9 or so hours and I hope that some of this mess will have been cleared....

  16. mousetrap says Hey, Rawk - hope you can hang tough out there. That "Snow Day" tune sure is a good one. After reading your post and seeing the pics, I'm sending out my thanks to my dear departed dad for pulling up stakes in about '68 and moving the family here to Portland from Fort Snelling. And really, it's not like the rain always falls sideways here! Actually, come to think of it, it snowed here yesterday. Okay, so...whatever. I like it.

  18. Rawkkiddoh says Mouse glad you liked it, check out the full ep of Matt Pond, its great. All the way from Fort Snelling huh? Wow, I would drive by it everyday when I was teaching. starting next year, I will be doing the same again.

  19. Augusts1 says Mousetrap, I know it's not that way all the time in Portland, just 9 months outta the year, lmao! I lived there for 35 1/2 years so I've had my share of OR weather. Every once in awhile in the winter there will be gorgeous sunny days but those are to fool tourists into moving there, hehe! It would get cold enough just from the rain but then it would snow & get icy as well. Ugh! There's alot of things I miss about Portland like the Church of Elvis, the restaurant Montage(SO tasty), rose garden, downtown, Saturday Market & clubbing, but the weather isn't one of them! In fact, since I've lived in N. CA(over 10 yrs), I've only visited Oregon ONCE during the winter to surprise my Dad 2 Xmas' ago. Otherwise I visit in the summer.

  20. mousetrap says Rawk - yep, my folks started out in Montreal and gradually made their way to warmer climes. One of my few vivid memories of that time is a clear visual image of snow piled as high as what's shown in your pics. It's impressive enough to a grownup - but to a six-year-old it was a LOT of freakin' snow! Is there still a golf course in Fort Snelling? Our house was at the edge of the course, so we had a great time playing in the sandtraps (when Mom & Dad weren't watching). Augusts1 - 35 1/2 years? Well, no one can say you didn't give Portland a chance. By the way, the "24-Hour Church Of Elvis":http://www.24hourchurchofelvis.com is no more, or at least it lost its storefront location; the co-owner of "Montage Restaurant":http://www.montageportland.com died in 2000 while in police custody...but there's a lot that hasn't changed. It's still a great place to live, with a happenin' music scene, and hey - the "Trail Blazers blew out Charlotte 127-90 tonight!":http://www.nba.com/blazers/news/Trail_Blazers_go_bobbin_for_B-213404-1218.html

  21. Augusts1 says Yes Mouse, 35 1/2 yrs.! I'm a native Oregonian, born in Oregon City, raised in West Linn & gradually migrated into Portland. And OMG I can't believe the co owner of Montage died!!! Do you know which one? I hope it wasn't Darius! I recall going to Montage when it was up on 20th & Belmont when they first opened! I lived three blocks from it's current location & one of the co-owners Darius' mother lived in the apt. bldg. I managed. She did the books for Montage so Darius stopped by often so I met & knew him. I loved Montage & ate there often cause you could eat there cheap! Sad that The 24 Hour Church Of Elvis is no more. I had heard that it had closed. I've bookmarked both of those sites. Now the Trailblazers I couldn't give a rat's ass about, lmao, cause I'm not into bb at all. Glad they won for ya though!
    Permalink posted 03/02/2007
  22. mousetrap says Hey Augusts1 - it wasn't Darius who died...it was the other Montage co-owner, Jon Beckel. It's a pretty sad story, but if you're interested you can read this "very thorough article":http://www.wweek.com/html/leada071200.html that appeared in Willamette Week. It's the kind of story that causes me to remark to myself, "Hmm...I really lead a very quiet life." "Now the Trailblazers I couldn't give a rat's ass about, lmao, cause I'm not into bb at all." Well, that used to describe me to a T...but it's funny how things change when you spawn mutant kids who turn out to be inexplicably gifted at sports and inundate the household with their various enthusiasms.

  23. mickimicki says I think the snow looks beautiful... haha.... my grandmother used to live in the Alps and well, that was winter for me. I loved the crunching sound our boots made on fresh (dry) snow... the smell of it.. the icicles hanging off the roofs and everything... watching my dad shovelling snow... ... these days, when we're at my mom's, I've got my little helper here who still likes shovelling... (Snow seems kinda nicer in the mountains, though... I take it Minnesota is not really that hilly?)
    Permalink posted 03/02/2007
  24. Rawkkiddoh says Micki, you are correct we do not have a lot of hills here but we do have 10,000 lakes. What you get with the mountains, we get with the water. By the way, crunchy snow is the best!
    Permalink posted 03/02/2007
  25. mickimicki says Do you ice-skate??? Is it cold enough for lakes to freeze over? I think ice-skating on lakes (ponds, streams, rivers...) is another extremely cool winter thing (...except when there's a rock or a twig frozen into the ice and you fall at high speed and find out how hard ice really is...)
    Permalink posted 03/02/2007
  26. Rawkkiddoh says You have to ice skate here, its almost like state law. Ha, but yes I have gone out many times, and when I was younger I was even in speed skating competitions. Its a year round thing here as well, we have indoor rinks for people to skate on during the summer. The picture is of a rink located in downtown Minneapolis.
    Permalink posted 03/02/2007
  27. Rawkkiddoh says Mousetrap, there is still a golf course, and I know the homes you speak of. During the summer I play soccer on the fields there about twice a week. I try and get out for golfing but would probably enjoy playing in the sand traps more than the actual game. Saw the trailblazers game as well, talk about a whoopin.

  30. Nixne Svix says Well ,its 50 degrees and pouring cold rain here in North Central Florida. So nothing too exciting, I get to ride my ass towork in it here soon. TGIF though. So as far as Al Gore is concerned , First , Fuck his wife in the ass with an open mic. I still didnt forgetthat PMRC shit. Now her husband is hanging out with these bands....fucking bitch. As for Al, well I think its good to do something now, even if itis a premature freakout. Better safe...now I can see changes in my enviornment. Things are just different on the beaches and in the woods in Florida. Ive spent enough time in the same place to see the change myself. But in the long run , unlesss we start trating the world like the Vietnamese treated the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War , sure we are headed for deep trouble. I really think we are a more of a danger to mammals than the world... But like my hero and my fantasy Grandfather Goerge Carlin said......"Shit , the world is gonna shake us off like a bad cold...."

  34. Joxley says Without wishing to sound like the MOG geography nerd, the disruption to atmospheric conditions caused by global warming is likely to lead to cooler temperatures in some places, as well as more extreme weather and snow. Some models suggest that if climate change continues unabated the Uk culd even be lunged into a mini-ice age.
