Didn't see this coming

Posted almost 5 years ago
Woke up this morning to see the the huge snowstorm we were supposed to get never happened. Then I read this, The seemingly never-ending saga of Guns N' Roses ' "Chinese Democracy" album rolls on, as the group has once again postponed the project's release. I mean I know this topic has been beaten to death, but what gives here. I am not sure what the hold up is, and I wonder if it has something to do with the new album sounding like complete crap. While part of me wants to hear this so called album, another part of me hopes it never sees the light of day. For those of you interested you can read more here.....http://news.aol.com/entertainment/music/articles/_a/gnr-scraps-new-album-release-date-again/20070222191609990001

  1. phantomtv says Just par for the course as far as GNR are concerned, They used to a great band but I think fame went to Axle’s head.

  2. ivylander says Maybe they think that if they wait long enough, people will start caring again.

  3. Zeroskilz says I used to be curious, but I think I'm over it now. Whether the album ever comes out or not, I don't see myself listening to it.

  4. Rawkkiddoh says Phantom, I really think he has gone off the deep end and I am not sure if he will ever come back. Maybe if he got rid of those dreadlocks. Ivy, isnt that the truth. From what I have been reading here on MOG, he is going to have to wait a long time. Zero, I know I am going to have to listen at least once, buying it is a whole other story.

  5. Viva La Britt says I am now even more convinced that there never has been, isn't, and never will be any semblance of a _Chinese Democracy_. It's like that _Seinfeld_ episode when George drives his dead fiancee's parents he'll take them to his house in the Hamptons when, all the time, there is no house.

  7. jameson says Apparenly he feels the need to re-record and re-edit the new musicians' parts on the album whenever there's a lineup change (read: weekly). That's PART of the problem.....

  8. Anna says I'm with Britt. And meh @ GNR. :)

  9. Rawkkiddoh says I think the longer they wait, the more people will want to hear it. Its like that forbidden fruit that you are not supposed to taste, but when the opportunity is there you take a bite.

  11. chulsmith says i'll be the first to admit that gnr is my all time favorite rock and roll band. there i said it. BUT i've heard some of the leaked demos from chinese democracy and i can't get into them. axl's waaaay past his prime and i'm not into the rock/electro thing with which he's experimenting. it's not gnr. hasn't been gnr since the rest of the band left. velvet revolver is more gnr than gnr. but velvet revolver is also fucking great - live, too. tickets go on sale 2 march for when they come to paris.

  12. Nixne Svix says It actually reminds me of last weekends big hub bub here on MOG. Yeah there is a total asshole floating around , but if GOOD music comes out of said asshole (in whatever form-ie music or reviews etc.) then to me , no problem...as far as waiting, when they say its ready and for sale , then ill raise an eyebrow and an ass cheek. its like the Star Wars movies hype, whats with the camping out? it doesnt exist until YOU experience it , so if ive waited already , i can wait more. But if said asshole produces nothing but negative shit and no musical offerings.....fuck off hoser..... Image Hosted by ImageShack.us am i surprised at the delay(i know your title was tongue in cheek kev)? hells no's

  13. Rawkkiddoh says Cam well said, although you are messing with the gods when you bring in Star Wars. Chul, what are the odds there would ever be an actual G n R reunion. Bah, never will happen. While I am not going to be going to a midnight release party for this album, I will be sure to see what come out...if it comes out. dermahrk I think thats what Axl is trying to do, but I feel most people have stopped caring a while ago.

  14. etcvisitor says i think you missed the real tidbit of news in this story "GNR will return to live duty for its first-ever shows on the African continent April 27 in Johannesburg and May 1 in Cape Town." JOHANNESBURG SHALL BE ROCKED!! im really curious to know how many people have played on this album. and what percentage of the people who have played on this album will appear on the actual thing when it comes out. im hoping he keeps holding it off so i can do some guest vocals on atleast one track... regardless of if he erases them or not, i could always say "dude, i was totally on chinese democracy, and it still never came out". i guess i can start saying that anyway because its not coming out.

  15. Augusts1 says lol@Etcvisitor!! Dream on boy, dream on, lol! Kev, I recall reading a review in Spin a YEAR ago about "Chinese Democracy" & the guy said it was good but not 12 years worth of waiting good. And then it wasn't released, lol. Axl's got a real problem & it's called OCD for which he seriously needs medication. To be honest, I thought the album HAD been released since I read the review & there just wasn't much fanfare made about it & was forgotten! Shows ya how much of a GNR fan I am, lmao!! I like their music but didn't buy any cds.

  16. etcvisitor says it would be really funny if it had been released and there wasnt any buzz about it so everyone forgot that it came out, including the band.

  17. Rawkkiddoh says I am even more interested to see how much the album has changed from the songs that have hit the web so far. My guess is Axl is just going through the musicians in hopes he can eventually get the band back together. As for South Africa, its not like they dont have enough troubles already, now they are going to have to make room for axl's ego. August, I hope you held onto that Spin because I am guessing they are going to reprint the exact same article in a few weeks.

  18. dangerpilot says I am so far beyond caring about it that it's ridiculous, but "I am not sure what the hold up is, and I wonder if it has something to do with the new album sounding like complete crap." needs to be in some proper article published in some official rock mag. like, now.
