OMG

I hate all of you

Posted over 2 years ago
All right, I get it! Its warm were a lot of you live, actually quite beautiful from the pictures I have been seeing. No I don't hate you, actually I am rather envious. While I will be the first person to defend Minnesota and its cold temperatures, on days like today I would kill for sun and warmth. Today it was 20 below with the wind-chill, and now it is snowing. I stayed inside for most of the day, trying to figure out my 5 favorite "snow/cold" songs. They came to me like a fine wine.1. Trip Shakespeare - “Snow Days"2. Billy Bragg - "The 14th of February"3. Moby - "Why Does My Heart Feel So Sad"4. Matt Pond PA - "Holiday Road"5. Nick Drake - "Pink Moon"It is something else to see pictures of warmth coming from others MOG posts and I truly enjoy seeing them. I makes me think of the days getting longer and the temperature slowly creeping upwards. In case you have not heard, we actually have a "summer" here in Minnesota. I have proof; I have been looking at this picture all day. I took it at Lake Harriet last summer, and it helps take the bite off the winter cold.

  1. goodmusiconly says Well, don't hate me ... I'm in the same boat. It has been cold, snowy, icy and crappy here for weeks. It was fun for a bit, but I am officially over it! Here's a few more for your list: Nick Cave - "15 Feet of Pure White Snow" Elliott Smith - "Angel in the Snow" White Stripes - "In the Cold Cold Night" bundle up, kiddo, we have a ways to go ; )

  2. Zeroskilz says 5 below with windchill here today and some light snow. Hurray! Finally. The only song that comes to mind is the cover Nirvana about sleeping in the pines all the cold night through. I love the song, but I cannot think of the name of it. Have a good night!

  3. Rawkkiddoh says Nice additions Goodmusic, I will add them to my list. Maybe I will make a cd of it. Zero, not glad to see you are in the same boat for your sake. Cabin fever has struck, and I am bouncing off the walls. I can't wait to hear from Crashpryor about how it was a cool 65 degrees in California this weekend.

  6. mutterimieli says Beautiful shot of the lake Rawk. Don't worry, when it's summer and y'all are out having fun in the sun, I'll be the one that won't leave the house to stay out of the 110 degree heat! heh

  7. Zeroskilz says I got sidetracked. The Nirvana song doesn't have the word Cold in the title. The song is Where Did You Sleep Last Night. The lyrics can be found "here.":http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=t&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-50,GGLG:en&q=where+did+you+sleep+last+night+lyrics The original song was done by "LeadBelly.":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leadbelly So, seriously I'm going to bed this time. :) Cheers.

  8. Rawkkiddoh says Its from the Unpugged cd Zero, and it is really good. I am going to the same place, good night. Mutter, I would kill for that kind of heat right now. I went to change the light bulb outside my house, and thought this is no way to live. The lake picture makes it all seem worth it though.

  14. Anna says It's still sunny here. I wouldn't mind me some snow. Some friends of mine drove up to a winter resort on a mountain 2 weekends ago, and there was very little snow. (actually I don't care about snow itself, I just want to snowboard) Snow Patrol should count as a total :)

  16. Rawkkiddoh says I like the additions to the list, makes me feel all warm inside. However seeing there is fresh snow, and its cold outside I think I will remain indoors. Anna, I know what you mean about wanting to snowboard, I was looking at my snowboard the other morning and was thinking the same thing. Woz, man thats pretty cold, are you sure you dont live in my neighborhood? B42, nice link, I enjoyed it this morning. Iren and Amy, the mix cd is slowly gaining form, I am waiting for some smartass to post 5 summer songs just to taount me. As for you Chucky, the picture was taken in July, the one month we dont have ice on our lakes.

  18. sugarbaby says I seem to listen to "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" by Billie Holiday more often in this weather. "January Stars" and "February Seas" (and even "Ocean Waves" and "Reflection") from George Winston's "Winter into Spring" also reminds me of how calm (and bleak) winter can be. Some others: "February Stars" by the Foo Fighters "Plainsong", "Cold", "Before Three" and most songs by The Cure "Day After Tomorrow" or "The Last Rose of Summer" by Tom Waits "Snow (Hey Oh)" by the RHCP And if you want to get your Viking-on, there is always "The Immigrant Song" by Led Zep... and don't forget "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow" from Frank Zappa ;)
