Jazz thing

Posted about 5 years ago
What ever happened to the whole jazz-influenced rap movement of the 90's? I just got done listening to the Dream Warriors album, and started thinking about all the great rap groups who incorporated jazz into their music. Digable Planets, US3, Gang Starr, and even a Tribe Called Quest. For me, this was a great moment in hip-hop, yet it died out rather quickly. For those of you who like jazz, you might want to check out some of these artists. The samples used in their songs are incredible, and easily recognizable. I wanted to include this video from Gang Starr. It's from the Spike Lee film, Mo Better Blues. If you can find the soundtrack, it will be well worth your money.
