OMG

This day in musical history

Posted over 2 years ago
On January 13, 1973, Slade scored their first UK No.1 album with 'Slayed'. One of the front runners of the whole Glam Music scene, their sound can be heard in many acts today. Although they were never that popular in the states, many other artists have given them their dues. Eddie Shum and Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher have both been quoted as saying the band was "Fundamentally more important to the development of music than Radiohead". If you have not checked out Slade yet, you should do so in the not so distant funture.

  5. ScottyB says Agreed on the timelessness of their music - But the video still ranks in the high 90s on the unintentional comedy scale! :-)

  6. mickimicki says Thanks for reminding me of the Quiet Riot version... I almost threw up my breakfast! I showed the Slade vids to my 6 yr old son and he's totally into it. Started singing along right away. He thinks their a "clowns" band...

  7. El Monko and Son says Slade was unquestionably glam. And, certainly, as much as Radiohead is a more brilliant band, their overall influence has yet to be determined.
