Best use of a swear word in a song

Posted about 5 years ago
What I am talking about here is a well placed, vulgar word that makes you sit up in your seat when it comes on. Rap music is filled with obscene words a lot of the time, so I will exclude them from the list. What I am talking about is a artist, who for the most part doesn't swear on their album. As you are listening along, bam it hits you and the lyric seems to take on an even bigger importance. One such lyric for me was off of my favorite album last year. Against Me!, "Searching For A Former Clarity". The album is great all around but on the track Don't Lose Touch, they had one of these moments.Constant entertainment for our restless mindsConstant stimulation for epic appetitesIs there something wrong with these songs?Maybe there's something wrong with the auidence.Manipulation.......in rock music......Fucking nausea

  2. mktackabery says Jane's Addiction, Pigs in Zen if you've got some big fucking secret, why don't you sing me somethin'? I'm in the midst of a trauma . . . Leave a message I'll call you back. Leave it by the bed. Some people should die; that's just unconscious knowledge. Because the bigger you get, the wider you spread; You gotta depend on me. Now your vision is dead. Vision . . .

  3. goodmusiconly says No surprise here ... I am going to chime in with an Elliott Smith lyric: you got a pretty vision in your head a pencil full of poison lead and a sickened smile illegal in every town so here i lay dreaming looking at the brilliant sun raining its guiding light upon everyone you say you mean well, you don't know what you mean fucking ought to stay the hell away from things you know nothing about

  7. superjaimee says The Violent Femmes "Add it Up". "Why can't I get just one fuck?" Maybe it was my age when I first heard the song, maybe it was because one of my friends babysat for one of the Femmes.... but this lyric, in the context of this band, and this album, was both shocking and just what the song needed to express that rawness it exudes.
