WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

step into the future will you?

Posted 11 months ago

Hello MOG,

Not sure if anyone will get this, it seems these halls are rather empty these days. Not sure what to make of it all, although I feel a lot of it has to do with the holidays and that can take its toll on people. I just wanted to wish everyone a great start to the new year, with midnight approaching quickly 2009 is just around the corner. I also wanted to give my own list of favorite albums from this year, I figure it is that time of the year to make that list..........here it goes.

10. Giant Panda - Electric Razor

9. Old 97's - Blame It On Gravity

8. Port Obrien - All We Could Do Was Sing

7. The Kooks - Always Where I Need To Be

6. Dillinger Four - Civil War

5. Eli "Paperboy" Reed - Roll With You

4. Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons

3. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend

2. The Morning Benders - Talking Through Tin Cans

1. The Gaslight Anthem - The 59 Sound

There you have it folks, and I might add the Virgins album was a close 11. I wish you all a good night, and tip my drinks to all the moggers who are celebrating the same way I am. A song for the night, well it happens to be my favorite from the year. Let it carry you into the night in hopes that the next year is better than the last.

Happy NY to you too tripbro. Nice list, although many of those groups I don't know. Surprised The Virgins didn't make it into your top ten since you turned me onto them.

Happy new year, Kev! I don't know where my ears were this year: I've heard exactly one of the albums on your list (unfortunately, I didn't see the appeal at all, but it must be some blind spot of mine), and have heard only of half of the bands/artists to begin with!

    I'm here!  I'm here!

    I mean, seriously...where else would I be?

So...Happy New Year to you too, Kevin.  I was surprised (and pleased) to see the Port O'Brien album on your list.  I saw them open for...someone (I think it was The Decemberists or Nada Surf) this year and loved them.  Their album was one of my happy surprises of 2008.

So, here's to a quiet and happy and headache free January 1st to you and yours.

Happy 2009.... I have to admit that I am late on the The Gaslight Anthem album but it's been on my radar since I had it played for me in Finland last Oct.... I must give it a couple of more listens.
