This is what I woke up to this morning, and as far as snow goes it was not that bad. In a few days it will be Christmas and I had some shopping to do in the mean time. I was thinking today would be hectic, and that I would more than likely loose it at some point dealing with the crowds of people that were supposed to be in the malls. I have not had any time to Christmas shop, so today was going to be the day that I got all the presents needed for Thursday.
After brushing off my car I drove to the wonderful Mall of America. A place where dreams can come true, and I was hoping to get all the things I needed in one swipe of the credit card. The place is huge, and my first stop was the new Best Buy they now hand inside. I guess you can call it habit, but before I looked at anything in the store I headed over to the cd area for a little something for myself. I usually start off my Christmas shopping by getting a little something for myself and new music for the drive home felt like it was the perfect choice.
I began to just walk up and down the rows of cd's and once I hit the "C" section I stopped. I saw an artist that I had heard a few songs by, and I think it was the album cover that made me end up buying the record in the end. His name is Richard Cheese and he has made a living by performing popular rock, rap, heavy metal, and pop songs in a swanky lounge music swing band style reminiscent of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennett.
All the songs on the record were ones I knew well, but hearing them done by this man is something every person should hear at least once. His sound brings you back to the days of Frank Sinatra, yet you find yourself laughing pretty much the entire time. It is also interesting to actually hear some of the lyrics that I thought I knew before hand. Perfect for a party in my opinion, and perfect for a drive home after shopping.
I got everything done that I needed to today, and yes the drive home was great all because of a lounge album of some of my favorite songs from years past. In case you have not heard him before, I give you his rendition of "What's My Age Again" by Blink 182. Maybe it is just me but his music makes me happy. Merry Christmas MOG, and to all a good night.

Merry Christmas Coop. Enjoy your family.
Things to do in MPLS/Twin Cities metro area:
1) See The Hold Steady, even if they're from Greenpoint, Brooklyn
2)Go to a Twins game at the new park
3)Mall of America
right back at ya, and as for the snow that was nothing, no really
and that is about it for that list, you might add
4) see a show at first ave.
5) uhm..........look for prince?
4) would be the hold steady at first ave
I think Prince lives in LA
still has studios here in MN, not that he visits them often
He was living in Carlos Boozer's place for a while
wasn't he roomates with Bobby Hurley?
Prince? I dunno. I just remember Boozer getting pissed about The Purple One painting all over it. Also, I have a record player.
Ha, that's a great cover of that song. I think it's even better than the original.
I'm so glad I don't live in a snowy part of the country, but then again, you don't have to deal w/the Schwarzenator either.
So you are telling me they finally put a Best Buy in the MOA.... that was one of the things that I always was saying they needed to do.... and a Target, and a dry cleaner.... and a Cub..... it almost makes me miss the place... oh and Richard Cheese is great fun, I love his cover of Radiohead's Creep.
Oh, the pretty snow - can melt right after Xmas!
I'll add some more Cheese to the cheese party. This one makes me laugh everytime. Richard Cheese's version of Jingle Bells
