WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

the soundtrack of my death?

Posted about 1 year ago

Last night before bed I did something I usually do on a sunday night and that was make a mix to drive into work to. It is something that makes me want to get up for the morning drive, and it is also a reason to buy songs on itunes for my personal collection. Usually when I wake up on a Monday I am eager to start my week, but today something was telling me not to head into work. This was strange, of all the days of the work week, I usually look forward to Mondays quite a bit. Even more so when I know I have a fresh batch of tunes to listen to, yet today things seemed off.

I got in my car as I always do, cracked open a Red Bull and then put my mix in to carry me into work. The first song was great, a new band I love as of last night and their name is Telepopmusik. The track is called Breathe and I picked it soley on the fact breathe was one of our spelling words for my class last week.

It set the mood for my drive, and by the time the second song came on I was already feeling better about my day. This song was one that caught my ear and is done by Secondhand Serenade. I guess I was feeling mellow this morning because the song, Fall For You, was sounding perfect at 7:30 in the morning.

I was on the highway at this point and cruising along at 65 miles an hour. The next song to hit my ears was one I waited all night to hear. I had first heard it in an ipod commercial, and finally found out who sang it last night. That song, Bruises, is sung by a group called Chairlift. It is pop music at its finest and when it came on I remember smiling a little to myself. The intro does that for me, but that smile did not last long. With out warning I found myself spinning on 494 going around 65 miles an hour. My car swerved into the right lane and all looked good. I actually had time to think, "Man, I am going to end up on the shoulder, no problem." Just as my car was coming to a stop I looked to the right just in time to see a fellow motorist plow into me going around 65. I am not really sure what happened after that, but I came to and slowly got out of my car. I am pretty sure my ribs are bruised, but my car took the brunt of it. I got word a few hours ago it is totalled. The adjuster who saw it was amazed I walked away from it and to tell you the truth I am in the same thought pattern. He told me if my car had rotated 90 degrees more I would probably be dead or in the hospital at the very least. I am still unsure why the guy who hit me made no attempt to slow down, part of me thinks he was trying to speed past me on the shoulder rather than slow down like everyone else. Either way I am now with out a car and in a pretty sore shape. I also know this song is a little more special to me today, and because of that I want to share it with all of you. Enjoy!

Lyrikhan, I was grooving up to the point I was spinning.

Watch - I sometimes think I am the only person in the world who actually enjoys that stuff. It is my monday morning treat for the week. On a teachers salary that is about all I can afford

So glad to hear you're alright. I take it you didn't make it to class today? Give your boy a big hug (I'm sure you already have) because things could've ended up so differently today.

Now, how long until you can get another car?

Geezus, you are fortunate to be alive tripbro. Glad you are still kickin'! That is scary stuff. Sorry to hear the car is totaled but happy you are alright.

Diggin' Telepopmusik & Chairlift songs. The Telepopmusik vid was pretty bizarre at the end w/the little girl poisoning the guy--creepy!

Oh Kevin :/ I'm glad you're relatively alright.....my best vibes go out to you, and I hope that the car situation will be resolved soon.

Breathe was a big summer hit in Greece. Also, I like RedBull, too :)

Did you manage to salvage your CD, or was that totalled too?

Glad you're alright, man.  I'll take that to mean you haven't yet completed your purpose here.

Hey, I'm digging the "Breathe" track.  No surprise it was big in Europe.  It has that vibe.

Man, bad luck.  I always wonder after stuff like that why I don't just trust my instincts.  Fortunately you only lost a car.  The value of things really takes a different meaning after something like that.  I'm glad your okay.

Woah, that's crazy! The song "Bruises" is great though. I played it a bunch of times in my car today. Now I will be more careful though... I usually try to avoid listening to songs about injuries while I'm driving!
