I have never been a fan of downloading music. In fact, all the records I have ever downloaded I have gone out an bought once they were released. I have a friend who thinks the exact opposite of me, and his collection has been made strictly by downloading music from the internet. There was a time when he and I would do nothing by buy music. Cds, tapes, and vinyl we did it all. Then he sold his collection and in turn has been downloading music ever since. I continue to buy my music, and continue to resist the temptation of downloading albums before they are released. Then today I got home from work and checked my email to see I had a message sent from my friend. The title said D4 and I knew what this meant. He had gotten a copy of the new record well in advance, and he knew he could tempt me with the idea of getting it early as well. Well, it worked and I have just got done listening to the new album. I guess you can say I was blown away but just about anything from the boys of Dillinger Four seems to do that to me.The titles of their songs make me laugh, and the music............well the music can make any day a better one as far as I am concerned. I know today was a mix of sexy, old school funk hop here on mog so this post will go by unoticed I am betting. To try and fall in line with the rest of you moggers I give you this.

I think the title "Minimum Wage is a Gateway Drug" is brilliant.
I used to download all the time, but then I started feeling guilty. Especially since most of what I was downloading was obscure stuff--artists that could really use my dollar. Of course, the fact that I instead turned to buying use stuff, where they still don't get my dollar, doesn't heklp the situation. Recently, I've fallen back into my old ways a small bit, thanks to the temptations of Multiply. I always tell myself I'm going to buy whatever it is, or at least other things by that artist, using the download as a sample to see if I like it, and in some cases that's worked out like that, but other times . . .
I know what you mean Chuck, I cant tell you how great it was tonight to hear an album I have been waiting for 6 years to come out. I do know that part of the experience for me though is the actual transaction, and I still can not wait for that day to come.
I can't afford to buy everything my MADD wants but I try to buy stuff eventually. I also download stuff that I already own on lp & haven't been able to listen to in awhile. The song sounds pretty raucous, good stuff!
Its not for everyone August, then again isnt that what makes music great?
Yup, true dat Tripbro!
Mmmm. Fruity Pebbles. (Just kidding. That crap'll rot yer teeth.) Gotta say that I love all the titles, especially "clown cars on cinder blocks." Even if I have yet to hear a note, I'm buyin' in!
The button ain't working but the pics make up for it. Kareem and Magic - that made my day, reminding me of good years in Hollywood and LA.
Downloading to some is a gateway drug.
My college roommate spent hours finding stuff online way before it came out. I was always tempted to listen but always waited till the "record" came out.
Thank you for the first picture on behalf of all of us who love Brazilian....soccer.
Your feelings on downloading mirror mine. On the other hand, I am not a teenage music fanatic with a paltry income.
I really like this song. I think it has a great melody, the playing is good, lots of energy. But it made me think: why am I not a punk fan? The things that bother me about this songs are that:
1) The guitars, while well played, are mixed much louder than the vocals. This might be more energetic but, for me, the vocals are the most important instrument and should be in the mix forefront.
2) The vocals themselves. I hear a good voice or two. Unfortunately, it straddles the line between shouting and singing. No room for nuance.
And, the Rhapsody player is doin' strange things. That last chord of the song has been repeating, over and over, like a drone, for the five minutes I've been writing this. It's kinda cool.
Call our agency and we'll arrange a Brazilian spanking as {?} punishment.
I don't go for finding illegal advanced copies of CDs, since I have found that a lot of artist will offer full ablbum stream rights to folks like AOL and MSN and Viacom sites on or just before CD release (sometimes even right at their own site).
I used to buy 4 or 5 CDs a month for about $40-50, after the conversion from the vinyl age. I'd have some new music to enjoy each month, but not as much as I'd like to have been able to afford to buy.
I've since traded that for Rhapsody at a much reduced cost per month. I hook my computer to the stereo to expand my physical CD and LP library to a record store, and I can rawk just about anything that comes out- at home or away (even stuff I own on LP in the closets and CD).
I then only purchase downloads of the stuff that I really, really, really want to keep, or go buy a CD for about the price of a month of Rhapsody per each CD.
That works for me, since I don't have unlimited music funds or space to buy and store everything I would like to.
These guys do have some of the best song titles ever- I'll give them that.
that girl's butt isn't FAIR! That song RAWKS tho, Rawk.
