Being on summer break does not mean I sit around the house playing video games and doing nothing. Ok, that is part of my gig right now, but I have been busy crossing things off my list of chores I have to get done before the summer is over. One of those chores was to turn my son's room into a "little boys" room. I had been working on some paintings for him over the last year, and today they finally found a place on his walls. In addition he got his first big boys bed, and the look on his face when he came home from school today was priceless. Wanted to post the pictures of the paintings because a few people have asked what the deal is with my new avitar. They were done using acrylic paints, fine point pens and a good old fashioned sharpie. My son was more than happy with the end result, and currently is sleeping in his brand new big boys bed. For the record, I bought him one of those "race car" beds that I always wanted as a child..........one of these nights I am going to sleep in it just to say I have.

and sorry for the multiply logo on here, MOG would not let me upload these photos and I am not sure why
I'm sure it would be pretty satisfying to say "I've slept in a race car bed"
make it happen
and those paintings rule
He must be so pleased to have these on the wall...they are spectacular.
I wondered where your avatar came from
Lyrikhan - I see a nap in it tomorrow........doesnt every little boy want a race car bed or is it just me
Annie - I think my son liked them more than I did, and I liked them a lot. He even named them, its what he likes to do since he is two and a half
WOW those are awesome paintings Kev! He'll be hanging on to those into his adulthood w/pride I'm sure(I know I would if my dad had done that! I still have Pendleton Woolen Mills plaid shirts my mother gave to my dad from when they were dating[& she worked there in Portland, OR]). That is so cool you did those for him. Great job!
Kevin, that is awesome. It's always a big step when the baby room becomes a "big kid's" room. Done that twice myself, one more to go. No paintings on my end, though, as I have the visual creative aptitude of your average household mop.
Have fun taking tha nap.
Your a cool dad, and yea I wanted a race car bed too. Had star wars sheets (man I was a geek from birth lol).
You are just so cool.
And in a few years from now, I will be showing the artwork from the CD you sent me (the one that made me go get the same hair cut hehe) to a camera saying "yeah, it's an original Rawkkiddoh" :)
Excellent work, comrade. And just to set the record straight, I have slept in a race car bed. It's everything you imagine, except for the stiff back in the morning....
That is SO sweet! Those characters are adorable.
Groon, I imagine the average household mop can add some funky patterns to canvas if you throw some paint on it! You know...thanks for the idea, I think I'll try that this weekend....seriously.
nice work! fun thinking about how they might be cherished later on as an adult.
Nice work Rawk. I especially like the one in your avatar. Makes me want to dig up the brush.
Sunshine: Er, you're welcome? :-)
Don't think I can take any credit, as that wasn't quite what I had in mind, but I hope it works out for ya!
Good stuff, man. I envy the creative. I'd have to spend money to have my kid's room looking like that.
You got any leftovers for sale?
And their names are?
August - He will love them until he becomes a teenager, then I can only hope they are replaced with cool band posters and not ones similar to the Jonas Brothers
Groon - come on now, mops can be creative!
RGM - I had those as well along with a nice set of NFL sheets for when I wet the bed
Anna - ah yes the cd cover that spurred a new hair cut. Did I tell you I was amazed that you did that?
Ivy - I can not say I am looking forward to the stiff back, but it will be done
Sunshine - I liked them so much I wanted to hang them in my workspace
Dzendvokh - I can only hope he likes them as he gets older, if not I will have to replace them with others he does
Gritty - It is never too late, anytime I get the chance to work on my art I take it
Troy - No leftovers but if you want me to do something for ya let me know
Annie - from left to right.........Stan, Bear, 2 teeth and Pinky
Shut up...Stan...really...your avatar is named Stan...I love it.
Why is that one named 2 teeth...I wonder?
Sometimes kids can be so literal...when my son, Stan, was that age, he had a fish named Swimmer.
Stan seems to be what he is naming everything these days. I brought him down into my workspace when they were almost done, and he picked that one (my avitar one) up right away. After I told him where I was going to hang it, I asked him what his name was. He said, "Uhm..........Stan!" Later in the day we saw a spider that seems to be living right outside our window in the sun porch, I asked him what the spiders name was and like clockwork he said, "Uhm.........Stan!" I could not think of a better name for a fish by the way, that fits on so many levels!
Nice work. I only wish I'd thought of it for my son. Fortunately, Art is all about stealing ideas. I'm now a genius!
Thanks contra, too bad art is not about making money!

that is so rad, just bookmarked it......thanks!
Yeah, still tryin to think of something bitchin' to print out.
the little boy in me says for me to go photo copy my butt...........
i have been loving your avatar! the set of drawings looks so rad. you are like the coolest dad ever!!
What a lucky kid!
brittany - I would like to think I am cool but to a two year old that is easy. I will wait and see what he thinks when he is 16!
Thanks pinkerton!
haha all the more reason to enjoy your supreme coolness of being....for the time being.
well, enjoy I will!
Kevin, pictures like that in your son's room are just the best present you can give the lil tyke! I wish I had some kind of talent, so a bit of me could be looking over my kids while they sleep. Be sure you keep them safe when he enters that age where nothing like that is cool for when he comes to his senses.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks amber, and when he gets to be too old for them, I will take them down and put them in my work space..........I kind of like them as well!
I see them hanging in your grandkid's room...how does it feel to create a legacy? :)
am I getting to be that old.............?
MOGeezer? (that damn Ilay...)
hahahahahaha
I don't think I ever wanted a race car bed, but I think I have slept in one at one time in my life, so maybe that's why. Those avatars are really cool! I was wondering where it came from, now I have to figure out where your current one is from, now that I'm almost 4 months behind on Mog posts!
well, I will give you 4 more months to guess!
