Jack White and Alicia Keys team up for Bond theme

Posted over 3 years ago

For the first time ever, the theme song for the next James Bond film will feature a duet. The White Stripes' Jack White and R&B singer Alicia Keys will together perform the theme-song for Quantum of Solace, making the 22nd James Bond film the first to feature a duet. After months of rumors of who would be the one to be given the duties of starting out what looks to be an incredible film, the producers have made their decision and it looks to be one that everyone will be happy with.

Keys first expressed her wish to work with the White Stripes earlier this year. "They're very raw, very cut and dry," she enthused to Rolling Stone. "Drums and guitar. I think that combining that style with mine, which already has a raw feel to it, and my voice, I just think we could do something really interesting that mixes rock and soul together, the blues and emotion, and it could be really touching."

"We've had some conversations," she said at the time. "When the time works out, and it definitely will, it will happen."

Well it looks like Mrs. Keys got her wish because it indeed is happening. The song will be called Another Way to Die, written and produced by Jack White who will also be playing drums on the song. The film soundtrack will be released on October 28, a few days ahead of the release of the movie.

This should be a killer duet, especially with the melody of the Bond theme underscoring it and White more than likely doing the music.

I have to say it, this is a really odd pairing. I'm more curious to see if it really pans out very well. And Alicia writes her all her own stuff so I'm sure it won't all be Jack White's writing/music. Then again, they are both so ultra talented that I'm sure it will be great the more I think about it.

I'm really looking forward to hearing this!  I wouldn't consider myself a White Stripe's fan but I really liked Icky Thump and Conquest, so this will be interesting.  Wonder when we'll hear the song?  When's the film out?  Nov?

RGM - Love the new Bond as well

August - I know what you are saying, but sometimes you take two opposites and put them together and you get magic. I will be as bold as to say when Eminem and Elton John did a colab, that was great.

Milkshake - I believe it comes out on Halloween

I saw that mollifire and noted it in my post. When I was talking about the eminem/john colab, I kind of thought the same thing might happen with the pairing of these two

Good news, especially in the wake of the aborted Amy Winehouse/Mark Ronson fiasco - although I'd like to hear what their Bond theme would have been like. Meanwhile, "Quantum" is released on November 7 worldwide (meaning the U.S., too) - and on October 31 in the U.K., where you probably need a license to trick-or-treat...

I still think this is weird. Could be good weird, but we'll have to wait for the verdict (I hate waiting!).

How do you think a reconstituted Bond fan like me feels, now that Craig and company have truly reinvigorated the franchise for the first time since Mr. Connery left the role? November 7 can't come fast enough.

I too thought the last film was great.  Very dark.  I hope they keep going with this!
