WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Funk w/the Beasties

Posted over 2 years ago
Seeks made a "post about instrumental tracks by the Beastie Boys":http://mog.com/seeks/blog_post/90780 that instantly reminded me of an old favorite that I haven't heard in a while. The song is 'Sabrosa' from off of their Ill Communication album released in '94.^A shot from the classic 'Sabotage' video^ Definitely a funky track that is catchy as hell. To be honest, whenever I hear this track, I expect some scantily clad female to answer the knock on the door to find a porn star male dressed as the cable repair guy.....but I digress. Great track by an even better group that I have somehow let slip my radar for a while. Thanks seeks! The song is cut with video featuring some funky, psychedelic background complete with lady silhouettes fine enough for a mud flap.Edit!! I just found another post about Sabrosa in which "mmcnamara":http://mog.com/mmcnamara14/blog_post/73141 also envisions the porn following this song....great minds think alike.....or maybe minds just think alike, you decide

  1. seeks says nice! yea Sabrosa is a fav too. Don't think they have an instro that I don't like! I did a remix of Sabrosa entitled (drum roll please) ReBrosa haha...man I forgot all about that...maybe I'll post it later if it's finished, I don't ever remember. can't wait for the new album tho. hey do you remember G.E. Smith from the old saturday night live band? remember the face he used to always make when playing the guitar (sometimes known as the "feelin' it face" or the "ugly face")? yea that's what I get when listening to Ill Communication. Have a good weekend!

We just listened to this in the office -- forgot how incredibly awesome it is. What a great mix of lounge, hip hop, and punk.
