well
i was going to try to make some sort of significant post today. from me though you KNOW this is not possible
i cannot count the times i clicked on this site to post when an idea hit only to get my friend the 504 gateway error and then become frustrated
oh well
it seems i am in some sort of midlife crisis,work has dried up and i'm broke and feeling kinda worthless. i almost sucummed to despair but the music ALWAYS snatched me back.
Give me my daily Mule and everything will be alright

because the group i created is basically like a ghost town...sans a dozen or so ppl.
seems they have all bolted for facebook or twitter.it is a big circle.and the web is a fickle place yo?
i could spent many hours checking stuff out here.it is not necessarily un-cozy;just not inhabited by as many "friendlies" as before.

people like to get to know strangers online only so much. facebook and twitter are not about meeting new people but keeping relatioships with those you already know in real life.
everything is honky dory until someone gets offended in a comment or post and then they go running for the hills. what appeared to be comfortable ultimately wasn't. and these are people who probably have challenges keeping relationships going for a long time in the real world. ultimately the web presents the same challenges. do i really want to hang out with these people i for a long time?
MOG is less a social network now that a place to go to read and learn about music. we're relaunching in a few weeks and even taking it more in this direction.

i think ppl grumbled when MOG took this direction.
i'm good with it.my online time has been drastically cut in half or more over the last 6/12 months

I dunno. I'd say that I've gotten to know the strangers here much more than strangers on myspace. I'm incredibly wary of internet weirdos. But the people I interact with here, I would actually call friends (in some strange way). I don't think the newsy direction mog has taken has diminished it's clique-ishness, or it's familial feel. Even though I haven't been around as much, I still feel the love in the place. I'd bet money that if I mog-mailed ANY of my top trusted and just said, "Hey, what's your address, I want to send you something," they'd respond with that address without thinking twice. You can't say that about a myspace.
Maybe as a whole, the social part has been diluted, but I'd say the ties are just as strong as ever for the "old timers."
That's true Troy. I've always liked the weirdos here better than anywhere else.
The clique is its own little world. At one point it seemed to be steadily growing..not so much anymore. Or at least not at the rate it once did. It takes some folks a wee bit of time to get used to full cliquedom.

I just started a facebook account for the same reasons you said David. I found a bunch of my old friends on there. I got a myspace account, in fact 3 or four. I found a lot of my old friends on there also, plus I met some other musicians here on MOG that I keep in touch with on Myspace. It's easier on there to share your music with other musicians, & promote yourself. There was also mogpeeps, but I think that site was closed down.
