Midnite Vultures is an alternative rock album by Beck and was released in November 1999. Similar to most of Beck's previous albums in its exploration of widely varying musical styles, Midnite Vultures didn't achieve the same blockbuster success as his breakthrough, Odelay, but it was well-received by his fans and critics. It reached #34 in the US - where it went gold - and also hit #19 in the UK.Several songs were inspired by very prominent 80s acts; "Debra" was inspired by Prince's hit "Raspberry Beret", while "Get Real Paid" quotes directly from Kraftwerk's Computer World album. The first 500,000 copies came in a digipak.Working titles for the album included Zatyricon and I Can Smell the V.D. in the Club Tonight, the latter from a spoken line on "Milk and Honey."Track listingAll songs written by Beck Hansen, except where noted."Sexx Laws" – 3:39 "Nicotine & Gravy" – 5:13 "Mixed Bizness" – 3:46 Followed by 25 seconds of in-between-track noise "Get Real Paid" – 4:20 "Hollywood Freaks" (Beck Hansen/John King/Michael Simpson) – 3:59 "Peaches & Cream" – 4:54 "Broken Train" – 4:11 (originally titled "Out of Kontrol") "Milk & Honey" (Beck Hansen/Buzz Clifford) – 5:18 "Beautiful Way" – 5:35 Followed by 9 seconds of in-between-track spraypainting effects "Pressure Zone" – 3:07 "Debra" (Beck Hansen/John King/Michael Simpson) – 13:46 The actual track is only – 5:42 in length, but is followed by 7 minutes of complete silence, and then – 1:04 of hidden electronic noise "Arabian Nights" – 3:52 (Japanese version only) Best Buy versionInitial versions sold at Best Buy stores came with a bonus disc that contained 3 songs."Salt In The Wound" – 3:38 "This Is My Crew" – 3:55 "Sexx Laws (Malibu Remix) – 6:52 Although these were part of the original pressings, they came in a standard jewel case.
