  1. tybees says Wow, they're still making that Alesis - it seems to be a standard. I went with "this puppy":http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Boss-DR670-Dr.-Rhythm-Drum-Machine?sku=700289 cuz you could program bass lines with it. Now it's just collecting dust.

  2. robotanist says it would depend on which format you feel the most comfortable using already. do you program drums on anything right now? because it is much easier to learn a new drum machine if you have already played on another drum machine. if you make beats on a computer with software, then you are more likely to appreciate different software. it is a little bit difficult to make the crossover drum machine-computer, unless you have the extra time to learn the new format as well. i've used the alesis drum machine. its good - pretty easy to learn, easy to use, not super complex. the software looks way more complex, which also means more options/possibilities.... hope this helps!

  3. RGM says Well for now I just use a freebee acid program an manipulate drum patterns on my old Roland VS-840 EX 8 Track. It records onto 250 mb zip's, but I use it more as a mixer. It has some kick ass built in EF's and recording tool's! But online I keep seeing this one just wanted some feed back. I'm a Bassist/Vocallist, and can play guitar. I really don't want to play kit or put in the time for now. Maybe later just some basic's, I'm the band leader so I should know the basic's of all the instrument.
