Toxic Tuesday Judas Priest...Turbo Lover

Posted about 2 years ago

OK, this is more of a personal toxicity. I dig JP very mucho, & pretty much all their stuff. I think they've taken their sound as far as it could go which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I see some people who love this tune a lot now a days, but when this first came out it was a hhhhuge disappointment! I saw them on this tour,& I expecting a Screaming for Vengeance type of show. Instead got a glam rock version of them, with glitter as far as the eye can see or not because there was just toooo much glare on the stage! @ least that's what I think...

Thanks for this. Makes me want to stick all their albums on a 'playlist' and hit shuffle. Excellent! First band I saw live, way back on the UK Point Of Entry tour.

Speaking of Screaming For Vengeance.... You've Got Another Thing Comin'

I really need to build up my JP collection, I only have Point of Entry, Brittish Steel, & Screaming for vengence. I have the remasters with bonus tracks on them that I could have done without. They are enough for a B side album. Did you like them when they had Ripper on vocals? I didn't think it was too bad.

Blorch! (sound of puking) Never could stand this band. Ever. Except for "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" - as lame as that one is.

Slight delay in getting back to you Ray.

I think that Ripper was awesome live. I was lucky enough to catch them when they played the London Astoria before Halford rejoined (I also saw Halford's solo band around the time of Resurrection). In the studio I think it was a different matter and, while there were some standout tracks on Jugulator and Demolition, I think the lack of contribution from Tim Owens as a songwriter didn't really help them. They should have let him contribute a lot more, as his own work - Heart Of A Killer - is actually pretty decent.

RobinH: Bo prob, I take a while to answer back sometimes. Some of my friends are big fans of Ripper, they've followed him to Iced Earth. I saw Halford on that tour also, along with Queensryche, opening for Iron Maiden. Great show! All three bands tore it up!
