Slayer - Richard Hung Himself
This one of the best cover albums that I've heard to date. I think they really made these tunes their own.

Hi Ray, yes I love this album, and was real surprised it got such a hostile reception at the time.
While we are on the subject of Slayer covers. Do You remember this one from the Less Than Zero soundtrack.
That's a killer cover of that tune! I was gonna do a Sunday Under The Covers post on this one but couldn't find this tune on you tube at the time. Thanks for posting that!
On the subject of "less than zero," I've been really into Bret Easton Ellis books lately. Just finished "Rules Of Attraction." One of the main characters was Sean Bateman, Patrick Batemans (American Psyco) younger brother . Patrick is one section in the book on page 237. Clay from less than zero is mention though out the book, and is known as the guy from l.a. . He has part on page 182. I've read American Psycho, I like that one better, and the book is way more gorier than the flick. Although I still dig the flick a lot. Haven't read "less than zero" yet.

Not read any Ellis, although I was interested in what the wikipedia entry for Less Than Zero had to say about the film vs. book.
Less Than Zero was very loosely adapted into a movie in 1987 by 20th Century Fox. It starred Andrew McCarthy as Clay, Robert Downey Jr. as Julian, Jami Gertz as Blair, and James Spader as Rip. A then-unknown Brad Pitt also appeared as an extra. In the film, Clay is an anti-drug crusader who returns home from college to try and rescue his friends from their various narcotics addictions.
Due to all the liberties taken, Ellis refused to see the movie. In a recent interview with Amazon.com, Ellis stated that he has warmed up to the movie, and appreciates it visually as a snapshot of a particular time. Ellis claimed that there was no connection between the book and the movie, except for the title and the names of the characters.
Director Quentin Tarantino has expressed interest in filming a much more faithful adaptation of the book.

That would be interesting to see.
great thread, and great videos......nice way to head into another week of teaching
Thanks! Have a great week teach!
yep, everything Slayer does is distinctly Slayer. i don't think i would recognize a cover song performed by Slayer unless it was pointed out to me like this. so thanks for that RGM!
mollifire : Your welcome, I think this is one of their better albums. But like RobinH said: was real surprised it got such a hostile reception at the time.
Thanks for the post! I havent checked out anything on MOG for a while, but this one brought me back.
I love good metal covers of songs.
