Re-Discovering The Cult Electric

Posted about 4 years ago
This is my favorite ,and their best album IMO. An ex-girlfriend got me into this album. I've heard their stuff before this one, but this release is a straight ahead, AC\DC edge, pumping rock and roll record!

  4. satisfiedmind2 says Seeing the Cult live was one of the LOUDEST shows I have ever been too...Ian Asbury is SUCH a freaking rock star...love him

  5. Universalis says ° ° ° Motörhead are the loud guys, but i admit TheCult breaks a bone :)))

  6. mullytron says Nice choice. One of the greatest 80s rock albums, ah heck, probably just one of the greatest rock albums, period. Released in 1987, Electric predates Appetite for Destruction, and simultaneously helped kill off the synth blahs, and kick off a whole mess of cool rock experimenting. Best rock moment: right before the solo on "Peace Dog" (I think...), when Ian A. goes "BA-BA-BUH-BA-BAY-BUH-BAYBUH-YEAHH!!!"

  7. Groon says Always liked the Cult, but this is an album I don't care for as much. It's alright, but Love and Sonic Temple are more my thing. Still, always up for some Cult!

  8. Scotch says It's a tie between Love and Electric for me. I don't care much for Sonic Temple, though. Gimme some Southern Death Cult, baby. That's mighty good stuff, too.

  9. Groon says The Southern Death Cult has some great songs, but the 6 song Death Cult EP is even better. "Horse Nation" is one of my all times.

  10. Scotch says Agreed. I lumped them together, because I'm lazy like that, and most average folks (not MOGGERS) don't know the difference, or even that The Cult existed before Dreamtime. I guess I shouldn't have, since Billy Duffy wasn't in the SDC. For you, Groon: Best I could do, since I'm pretty sure that's the original version, not the Dreamtime version. It's been a long time since I heard that one...

  13. RGM says satisfiedmind2: I'd love to see them live. Universalis : Motorhead is the shit! Seems like everyone's seen them live except me, gotta catch them sometime. mullytron : Thanks, I gotta agree with you, one of the best 80's albums. Groon: Got into them on Love, Sonic Temple was o.k. from what I remember, haven't heard that one in a while. I was expecting more of the "Electric" sound. Scotch : Love is another one I haven't heard in a while. Need to grab that one. Haven't heard Southern Death Cult. leftoverking: I secound that!

  14. Scotch says RGM, ever heard "Fatman"? That goes back to SDC.
    Permalink posted 05/19/2008
  15. RGM says Scotch: No haven't heard them either.

  16. Scotch says It's a song from the Southern Death Cult album. It seems like the most popular one, which is why I asked. Even if you don't think you've heard anything from an album, a song might ring a bell. :) Fatman: A bit faster than the album rendition, but one might expect that from a live performance.

  17. Universalis says ° ° ° Ya hafta Ray, Lemmy's rumoured to be often somewhere in California :))

  18. RGM says Universalis: I met in front of the Rainbow in Hollywood on sunset blvd back in the late 80's early 90's. Nice guy, said he only had 300$ in the bank and was looking for a girl to buy him a drink. One advantage of being Lemmy...

  19. Doomsayer2001 says The Electric album sounds awesome on vinyl. I love The Cult, I got a bunch of stuff on record and a box set that had a bunch of remixes and alternate versions of a bunch of their songs. And I might add, when they are not at odds with one another, they put on a very fine live show.

  20. RGM says Doomsayer2001 : Got it on vinyl only and I agree it does sound awsome.
