{peeks out of closet} ok, ok, I'm here. seen them more than any other band, I thought I had spun them out. the venture into rock obscurity....convincing occultish posers, they are. read an article recently that sited "Secret Treaties" as perhaps one of the greatest rockuments of the 70's. after becoming a father, kinda started creepin' me out when they'd sing "...gonna do it to your daughter on a dirt road..." {switches off light, closes closet door}
LOL, I just remember as a kid hearing these played a lot on LA radio back in the 70's. They were mixed in with Zep, Halen, Steely Dan, & Styx. Don't know why I thought of these guys today. They're from the era of white dudes with afro's with beards lol!
This was like the secret band for the first 3 albums. I loved all the imagery and detail they brought to their covers, plus the strange song titles (She's As Beautiful As A Foot). Don't Fear The Reaper was a huge hit in the UK - still hear it occasionally. I saw them once in LA when they were famous - with Mick Jones from The Clash funnily enough. He loved them, much to the dustaste of the others in his band. Lol! Haven't really listened to them in decades but thanks to you I've fired up Spotify for a day listening. They still sound as good as ever.
Jonh: I knew them mainly from their radio hits as a kid. I could hear people blare in my hometown of East LA at the time. The area was mainly know for gangs, but it had it's secrect sub-culture of rockers at the time. That's wicked cool that you know Mick Jones Jonh! We listened to them as kids also. I feel like I missed out not seeing them live back then.
Veterans Of The Pshycic Wars was my first exposure to BOC. Just the title! When The movie "HEAVY METAL" came out I finally got to hear more from them. Iwas hooked and still am to this day. Few bands can write music as good. It sticks with you for ages!!!
