Here some Megadeth and White Zombie on The David Letterman

Posted about 1 year ago
I met both Dave's just before they put their first one out. They were a three piece at the time. The drummer at the time was a good friend of a female friend of mine. We never thought they hit it this big when we saw and heard the first one. From what I remember at the time they chose the name "Megadeth" to impress Megaforce records. My favorite from them to date is Hanger 18. Me and my buds at the time that Holy War was just one kick ass song when we first heard it. It was the CD to have at the time among us. Never met White Zombie, or Rob. Holy Wars Super Charger Heaven

  1. Scotch says My band in high school used to play Holy Wars and Hanger 18. I recall that we were better with Holy Wars than Hanger 18, but we didn't practice nearly enough... Did you live in OC at the time you met them? It seems that Mustaine and Lars Ulrich went to school together in OC, or some such thing. Folks told me that at least Lars went to Back Bay High School, but I never looked into it. It never was my thing to really research that kind of stuff.

  2. RGM says Met them at a friends house in Glendale C.A., saw them rehease at a studio I think it was called "Curly Joe's Studio." I was living in Glendale at the time, this was post Metallica when Dave had the grudge against them for kicking him out. I didn't know that he was an ex-Metallica member at the time. Metallica might have still been doing smaller shows at the time. I remember they did some shows with, "Armored Saint," the word went around that Hetfield didn't want to do vocals anymore and asked John Bush to sing. Also after Burton passed, we heard they wanted Joey Revera to join the band. They both turned down the offer I heard because they were to dedicated to "Armored Saint" at the time. Bush almost didn't "Anthrax," heard he was offered a lot of money to join. His Armored Saint bandmates told him to take the offer.

  4. RGM says Who? If it's Dave, he seems happy with his band, Bush & Joey still do Saint from what I hear. Don't know whats going on with him and Anthrax at the moment, heard they gave Joey another chance last time they needed a bassist. He wanted to be part of the writing process. Metallica wanted a yes man on bass like Jason, Joey's not that kinda of musician from what I've heard. Plus it seems Joey is doing alright from a bassist\musician's standpoint. He has played and toured with Fates Warning and has his own thing going last I heard...

  5. Scotch says Well, Metallica would have to be a good /paying/ gig, if nothing else. I would do it, but I'm sure I wouldn't be happy taking the shovel-loads of shit from Lars in particular.

  6. RGM says I'm sure most of us bassist would take the gig. When I was younger two gigs we'd keep an ear out for was Ozzy and Metallica. Never audioned either, but would have been cool just to try. A friend of mine was trying to reach me around the time Jason joined Metallica for tryouts for his old band, "Flostem and Jetson." By the time he reached me, they had already found a bassist.
