Great album, Ray. This brings back memories of a camping trip I went on down in Devon (south-west England) way back in '83, I remember having some tapes I had put together for the trip (it was about a 5-6hr journey). There was this, the first two Cheap Trick albums, and the Ramones - Road to Ruin and Pleasant Dreams.
Wow, just found a great Cheap Trick clip from 78 on the Old Grey Whistle Test (BBC).
Definitely the most enduring of the Def Leppard albums (and the only one that I own on CD). My favorite tracks on the album are Lady Strange and You Got Me Runnin' on side 2. Their later stuff never did as much for me. Thanks for the post.
RobinH: Cheap Tricks Live at Budokan is one of my favorite live albums. That's one recorded that my brother, & I remember listening to a lot as kids. Judging from Joe Elliots shirt that's vid is off the Pyromania tour. Great vids, thanks for those!
TBoom: I really liked On Through the Night also. I liked Pyromania, more when it came out back then, but was kinda disappointed when Hysteria came out. Everyone I know really likes that album, and there's a few tracks I thought were O.K., but I lost interest after that one. On Through The Night is the only one I got from them.
Well Ray, although I bought Hysteria, I sort of lost my major interest in Def Leppard after Pyromania. Thanks for the heads-up on the Def Leppard Story, I will properly check this out over the week. I had previously seen the documentary that was produced sometime after Hysteria and was shown on the TV in the UK. It was called Rock Of Ages, and shown as part of a 'Heavy Metal Heaven' week that was run at the time.
Sorry 'bout the late follow up but I agree On Throught The Night is a great album as well. I somewhat liked Pyromania when if first came out but lost interest from overexposure. I find their music after to be mostly unlistenable.
I'll have to check out the rest fo the documentaries and movie on YouTube.
(I guess it is sign of being 40 that I am commenting about Def Leppard two months late when I thought only a couple weeks had passed.)
TBoom: Better late than never! Yea I hear ya' on the 40 thing. I'm in 40's, & all my buds still talk about is Van Halen, Ozzy's early 80's stuff with Randy Roads, & custom made Chavel guitars lol!

Oh my look what I found , what a kick ass live rendition of Wasted from Rockplast '83.

Here's one song I thought was O.K., I forgot I got Hysteria also on vinyl somewhere. Over all it was to polished for my taste.
BTW did either of you ever see the Def Leppard movie that came out on VH1?
Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story (Part 1/10)

Their best one IMHO Jeff.
in some of my earliest gutar lessons, my neighbor taught me and my buddy stuff off of "on through the night."
