Greatest American Album?

Posted over 2 years ago
So I was at the bar with a good friend of mine, and we got into a debate about the greatest American Album of all time. He holds that its "Midnight Radio" by Big Head Todd and the Monsters. While I agree with him that it is a great album, greatest American Album I don't know that I agree. His primary point was that several of his friends also would name this as the "greatest American Album". My counterpoint was that one associates one's self with people of similar musical tastes (intentionally or not) so its not surprising that he and his friends agree. What counts is what other music addicts think. So what do people think? What is the "Greatest American Album"?

  3. RD says Is there an absolute answer? Probably not...is it worth discussion? Absolutely. I offered "Blonde on Blonde" as a possibility. Personally I would agree with "August.." as one of my favorites. Look for a further post regarding Dylan later... Keep the thoughts coming...(helps me fill out my record collection if I don't have an album)
