The MySpace site states,

'Female indie-music festival, « Les Femmes s’en melent » built up its celebrity over 10 years. in France and abroad, celebrating women in music. Born in 1997 as a single gig in Paris, the event is now spred over several nights in Paris, other cities of France, Belgium, Switzerland and England. Driven by passion and curiosity, renown for its ecclectism and quality, the festival is about feminity but far from feminism. Back in London for its 10th anniversary, the festival will once again enlightened today’s most vibrating international female artists. Beyond genres, if not genders, line-ups will range from folk to electro, gathering locals and internationals artists, renown or to be known.'

I am going to see Emilie Simon at The Borderline, London.

She is fantastic. Here are Desert and Flowers. Both utterly charming and very impressive.

I love I Wanna Be Your Dog and Chanson de Toile and her videos are cool too. She should've released The Flower Book as a CD/DVD set. I'm not a huge fan of Desert though - something about the way she sings the chorus I just don't like.

Emilie Simon is an awe-inspiring find, Q. I wonder how you came upon her.

I'm with Mike, that second vid is fabulous; very Nightmare Before Christmasy. (it's the second time in 2 days I'm turning a movie title into an adjective to characterize something...)

Mike, I'd read about a wave of young French rock bands, such as Plasticines and Les Bebes Rockers. I was checking them out on the web, when I came across Emilie Simon, and I youtubed her. That is how I found her.

Ah. Crafty. Francophile that I am, I was easily drawn in. Maybe it's time to do another web-search of my own.
