MELT-PROOF AND SCRATCH-RESISTANT

Ooh la la! ATTENTION UK MOGgers: Free Emilie Simon gig at the Institute Francais, London

Posted over 2 years ago
21st June: 9.30. I got to see her at a small venue called The Borderline in April and was mightily impressed. She was a chic and charming cyborg, dressed in a pink princess dress, controlling the electronic sounds with a big black switchboard attached to her arm.Experimental stuff: splashing of water, looping of sounds, dreamy, ethereal, and sometimes playful, both lyrically and sonically. Talented and stunning, a young lady who has obviously benefitted from having a father who's a sound engineer. If you don't understand French, don't be put off that many of her songs are in French; they sound great and she sings songs in English, too, including covers of songs by Nirvana (Come As You Are) and Iggy Pop (I Wanna Be Your Dog). Her show will be part of a larger event, the Exhibition Road Music Day. Perhaps I'll see you there.http://www.institut-francais.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=91http://www.exhibitionroadmusicday.org/

  1. Lady Miss Ian says Queen - thanks for the post. It made me go explore MOG (and elsewhere) about Emilie. I'd read a short review of Flower Book, but never heard any of her music. She is really intriguing. I'm going to see if I can search out her CD at my local record shops. I'm in the States so I can't make the gig - but i hope all you UK-ers go.

  3. QueenofHell says Thought I should point out that the gig is free, and that she is not being held captive and requiring emancipation.
