Men in Make-Up

Posted over 2 years ago
Always had a thing for men with a bit of eye-liner, especially a boy I dated at school. But which male celebrity did it best? David Bowie? Marc Bolan? Robert Smith? Gene Simmons (yuck)? Brian Molko? Who could forget him, with Anna around. Noel Fielding? To my mind nobody did it better than Adam Ant, with his iconic Prince Charming Maquillage, copied by Noel Fielding as shown in an earlier post.

  1. Dale says I'll go ahead and say it; if not the best, Robert Smoth has at least been the most consistent.

  2. Anna says Who is Brian Molko?! ... .. . I'm with you, Hell, I second the eye make up. "Taste In Men":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC2JPpdG-gw for a more subtle eye make up. "Pure Morning":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQQmAP9Poo4 because I also have a thing for painted male nails...

  5. QueenofHell says Queen looked pretty damn good in the video for I Want To Break Free. I think Freddie pinched my Roman Holiday lipstick!

  6. Mike the Knife says Sure. All that make-up is fine, but what are we to think of our heroes when the purse doesn't match the dress and heels?

  7. Terry Staunton says Good point, Mike. Again, this is something to which Mick, Keef and the boys have paid particular attention...

  13. Dale says Ha, I prolly have a pic or two lying around of me in eye-liner. No, don't ask, I wouldn't dare scan and post them.

  14. QueenofHell says Hey, Neill. There's no shame in that. Fancy coming to the gig at Hyde Park with eyeliner on? Dale, I'm sure I've seen a photo of you with eyeliner on, or did I imagine it?

  15. Terry Staunton says If you'll permit me to offer a quick male grooming tip, I would suggest that subtlety shoud be one's watchword. Try your level best not to over-egg the pudding, or you might find yourself going from this... ...to this...

  16. QueenofHell says Alice Cooper's make-up is notable. My friends and I used to leave sweaty clubs looking rather like him.

  17. Sturgell says I was living with this guy from Berlin, who was a dancer and a philosophy student. He had an English accent because he learned how to speak out there before he came to America. Anyways, he would wear eyeliner all the time and for whatever reason, the girls loved him. Made me consider wearing eyeliner, -consider-.

  25. Dale says Um, yeah, right after you two show pictures of how you look right after waking up from a hard night's partying. Heh.

  31. Dale says No dice, couldn't find it. No surprise there, as my negative self-image allowed me to throw them away at some point. Melissa thinks I make a fair impression of Robert Smith when I wore eyeliner, so let that help you form a mental image. Actually, I did find come pictures that I'll share on M, but alas, no eyeliner.
