What's that bloody monkey man playing at?

    Thriller
I've recently found out that Ian Brown did a version of Michael Jackson's Thriller. I think his cover of Billy Jean was lacklustre. If you've heard Thriller please let me know what it's like. It sounds highly amusing - those lyrics in a Manc accent.

  1. Neill says I used to love The Stone Roses but then that smelly Monkey Man (I jest not) sung so appallingly at Reading and a number of other gigs that I went off HIM completely. :-(

  3. Sureshot says Haven't heard it either. Brown is nothing without Squire and Mani. I could excuse the off key vocals when he was backed by those two.

  4. QueenofHell says Agreed. My brother loves him solo. Weirdo.

  5. Dale says That group was magic together, can't say I'm fond of anything they've done since, except Mani in the Primals. That bass riff on "Kowalski" ... massive!

  6. Sureshot says I used to cross paths with Mani a lot in my youth, at the football and various clubs around the city. He's a stand up guy, which is more than I can say for Brown who has an ego big enough to fill Old Trafford alone. On the subject of Mani's basslines... I'm guessing most bassists are in awe of his playing on 'I am The Ressurection'. Dale 'Vanishing Point' is such a cool album. Have you seen the film that inspired it? I love that film.

  7. Dale says Nah, I don't see R-rated movies, but I know enough of the sory. Everything the Primals have released since Mani joined has been excellent; I'm even talking myself into the new album, hoping it's not another "Give Out..."

  8. Sureshot says I haven't got around to buying it yet. From what i've heard of it, it sounds like they're back in their rock phase on this one. I'm more of a Screamadelica man.

  9. Neill says You old acidhead Sureshot! LOL.......It's my favourite album by them as well.
