WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

I've run my husband down for his musical taste, so now I feel I should big him up a bit.

He has good taste in music on the whole. This song reminds him of me which means it now reminds me of him. He's Meg and Mog, if you want to check his selection of music out. He isn't forcing me to do this - he's out and about. Are there any songs that remind you of your loved ones?

  1. Dale says Aww, you're a sweetheart. Somebody by Depeche Mode always reminds me of Melissa, since we both love DM, and had the song played at our wedding. I sang along to the song for a while, then she told me to shut up and dance. Ah, aren't memories precious?

  2. Kid Charming says None that remind me of anyone I actually want to be reminded of, unfortunately.

  3. QueenofHell says So precious. My mum said to me recently that the most important thing that you can do for your children is create great memories for them. This was after she'd spent a fortune on tickets for me and Col to go to see The Rolling Stones - we had really good seats. It certainly was memorable. I love my mum even though she does my head in a lot of the time.

  4. QueenofHell says That's a shame Kid. I used to wallow in self-pity listening to songs that reminded me of certain people I shouldn't have bothered thinking about.

  5. Dale says Funny you bring that up; my mom took me to my first concert, for my 12th birthday. I'd just learned to surf, so we went to see The Ventures. It was actually a pretty awesome show, as they'd hired a local punk band to open, and they were excellent. Alas, I've not heard hide nor hair from my mom in years. Even her sisters haven't heard from her. She's a hermit in Baja California somewhere.

  6. QueenofHell says Like this song when my first boyfriend dumped me to go out with his ex girlfriend again. I was 15, she was 18 and he was 17. Apparently he's now a kept man living in LA.

  7. Kid Charming says Yeah, it's a drag. I tend to resist associating people with music nowadays because of it — things get ugly, and you're left with a bunch of songs you used to love that are too painful to listen to. I've reached the point, though, that I can listen to those songs again — the association's still there, but it's more annoying than depressing.

  8. QueenofHell says Yeah - I'm feeling like I'm fifteen again and heartbroken just by listening to that song.

  9. QueenofHell says Oh my god Dale. That's so sad.

  10. Dale says It's not, really; we've not been very close since I moved to Arizona after my mission, not to mention being limited to two calls a year on my mission. She's like an old friend with whom I've lost contact. Besides, I live less than a mile from my in-laws, who've taken to me just fine, if I ever needed that kind of mother-son relationship. Divvn't fret, m'dear.

  12. Neill says As I have a really bad memory, certain songs remind me of certain girls so if I hear The The it reminds me off Claudia. If I hear Beautiful Blade by Breed, it reminds me of Donna and if I hear Only love can break your Heart by Saint Etienne, it reminds me of Katrin. I then have to go and pull the CD to see which year it was. Music just flicks switches in my head.....
