The Zombies - She's Not There

Posted over 2 years ago
I was thrilled to hear this as I was trapped in traffic coming home from the enormous Bond-villain lair type shopping centre in a quarry in Kent, Bluewater. It took me back to summer days of cruising around the Northumberland coastline with my best friend. I thought I'd share the joy. And, oh my, the singer looks like one of my first boyfriends!

  1. Pop Savant says Amazing band with one of the finest albums (The O and The O) ever. So underated. I got to see a reunited Zombies a few years back and it was a very special show.

  5. Anna says Wow. Helen....just like Micki, I always loved that song and I had no idea who was singing it. Mmm. Thanks for the post. So silly that they are named The Zombies and they are so clean cut hehe :D

  6. QueenofHell says Yeah, they look clean cut, but I doubt they were. I think the singer looks deviant.

  7. Mike the Knife says I don't care how questionable they look. This remains one of my all-times. Great bit of dredging, Queen. Maybe we should get the newly-minted Zombies enthusiasts into "Time of the Season.":

  8. leftoverking says ; ) one of my all time favorite bands. they influenced so many great bands. colin does look a little deviant here, ha ha. i have an original pressing of their first self titled record on the parrot label. (one of my pride and joy records) thanks for finding this vid queen o hell! one of the endearing qualities of this track for me personally, is the huge intakes of air you can hear between phrases on the lead vocal. these sounds all get edited out of modern day recordings. it's a good reminder that we are human, and need to breathe!

  9. giwastar says Great song! This band holds up and surpasses most bands today!

  10. Jonh Ingham says Like leftover, I've always loved the breathing, butthe other quality that makes it so special for me is the echo surrounding it. They sound like they're in a really huge room or maybe a small canyon. Over 40+ years I've bever grown tired of this song or Time of the Season. (Good cal Mike!)

  13. dermahrk says Sorry to tell you the Zombies were indeed clean-cut, never descending into drugs. Guess they had to make it on pure talent alone. Being an old man and a HUGE Zombies fan, I am still trying to get my head around the moggers above who didn't know who did the song. Like I would recognize Muse if I heard them or passed them on the street....

  14. QueenofHell says Probably just that he looks like the ex-boyfriend that makes me think he looks deviant, then. Thanks, dermahrk.

  15. dermahrk says Colin Blunstone, the lead singer, is certainly a bit strange on stage but straight as an arrow.

  16. Sturgell says I once dated for a girl in the Midwest for a few months and all we ever did was sing Zombie songs together. Later we found that we really didn't have much in common, but man it was worth it while it lasted. ??I close my eyes and soon I'm feeling sleepy, I sleep so easy??

  17. Kawentzmann says Thank you I really dig it! Especially that Wurlitzer piano.

  18. Tony Scalzo says O and O, or ??Odyssey and Oracle?? came out in 1968, failing to make a huge dent until the US picked up on ??Time Of The Season?? a couple of years later. I'm not suprised there's so many who haven't heard of 'em. I can't even get my friend Miles to finally check out this classic album. I've tried for years. All moggers should get this album!!! STAT! Oh yeah! We actually played in Spain in 2005 with the reformed Zombies. It was Purplefest in Leon. I missed their set but I noticed both Rod and Colin watching our set from the wings. You people must think I'm so full of shit. I swear, you can't make this stuff up!

  20. QueenofHell says Pleasure, SRVFan and kawentzman. I'm glad that I've introduced some people to them. Anna even played She's Not There on her rock radio show in Greece! Wow! That's impressive Tony. Wish I could have been there!
