Aur Revoir, mes amies!

Posted over 4 years ago
Demain, je suis alle a Nice avec ma copine, Jane. Je vais relaxer a la plage, visiter les musees, dancer a la boom et boire du vin. That may be a load of cobblers. I'm trying to practise my French which I haven't used very much for so long, because I am going to Nice. My brain usually clicks into French-ish speaking mode when I'm in France. I'm sure my pronunciation ain't trop chic. But I'll try my best. I am going to stay in my mum's pal's apartment. He takes astronomical photos, like this. ^ That is of Comet Hale Bopp, apparently, from a mountain close to Nice.^ This is of some 'aurora'.They're on a NASA website. I'm going to take my camera because I need some tips. With a Frenchy chic kinda vibe and coinciding with the WSONPS's Nirvana entry, here is Emilie Simon's Come As You Are.Some of you will have heard this before, and if you're bothered, tant pis (too bad)!

  1. QueenofHell says Merci beaucoup, Dale! Yeah, shouting in a French accent seemed to work for my pal last time we went, Neill.

  9. deadmandeadman says Way back in '73 I was in a small cafe in Nice. I ordered french fries. (donnay moi some pom frits sil vous plait) Well the waitress looked at me like I was a bug. She slammed her pad down on the table and walked away. Didn't come back either, except to hiss "no pomme frits"!! I hold no grudge, I was young, the typical loud, ugly American. I'd love to go back.

  10. chucky says Heh. When I went to Paris some boys followed me up the stairs of the Eiffel Tower looking up my dress and hooting at me. Later, someone asked for my autograph. ??? I would never go back, they scared me. Haha.

  11. QueenofHell says Deadman, I don't know what the problem with what you said is. Unless she thought 'give me some chips, please' is impolite. I have been told by a few French people that I am too polite when speaking French. I'd have said 'Est ce que je peux avoir des pommes frites, s'il vous plait'. Oh, well. Chucky, that's (many) French boys for you. I would not let it put you off going back, though.

  12. chucky says Eh, it's boys everywhere. I was kidding. But, if I get the chance again I would go somewhere I hadn't been yet just to experience more, ya know?
