Pokes Head In

Intended to mog more, but you know what they say about intentions. *sigh*Been a little busy, been a little sick, and been a little depressed (one part seasonal crap, one part family crap) so all that has conspired to kill my evil plans for this place. But I have been lurking on occassion and reading...and forgetting to reply to some posts by others! Too much shiny internet, too little time ;)The one musical note I will make here is about the breakup of XTC. I guess anyone could see this coming, and XTC did have a good run. At least they went out on a high note, too, unlike some other three-letter bands I know of ;)The selfish side of me is pissed to see the end of an era though. Why can't the crappy groups break up? Oh well, I suppose it'll be interesting to see what Andy Partridge does on his own (you know he will!), but I'm going to miss the Colinesque bits. And hey, Andy's still talking about XTC songs on their myspace...those are great fun! Never a dull interview with that fellow.Still lots to be happy about, right?

  1. radio gnome says I've been pondering "the break up" a bit, and have decided . . . eh, whatever. Don't get me wrong, I love love love XTC. Traveled across the pond to Swindon for The Gathering and everything. But it's been 30 years. 30 freakin' years. I will miss new songs from Colin, and his musicianship, but he's done enough that I wish only his happiness, and if that doesn't include writing songs, so be it. We'll get new stuff from AP, either "solo" or with other friends of his, and that's fine with me. AP will probably channel his current angst into some fun things, so there's that. So yeah, I've changed my mind. I think this is a WONDERFUL development!
