Hmm.... Does PJ Harvey know?

Isn't there some sort of statute of limitations regarding naming your band after the album/song of another artist? If not, there should be. I recommend at least 9 years from the release of the media you wish to name yourself after, that way people won't immediately confuse your band with the other person's work. That being said, "Uh Huh Her" is not a good choice for a band name, at least not until 2013 if we vote in my statute, because I immediately thought of PJ Harvey's album of the same name when happening upin the EP "I See Red" from LA duo(?) Uh Huh Her. (Which incidentally is a difficult phrase to type.) Comprised of former Murmurs frontwoman Leisha Hailey and Mellowdrone bassist Camila Grey, the EP is a fairly promising collection of electro chick-pop, mixing influences from The Cure, Ladytron and Mellowdrone to create a smooth, enjoyable set. Hailey's vocals are reminiscent of Emily Haines' on many of the tracks but the difference is in the harmonies and the electronic edge, though at times it channels Haines' band Metric almost exactly.It's a shame they jumped the gun on the name, which I thought was a great title for an album, and, if the album never exited, would be a great name for a female band. However having both exist in the same sphere only three years apart is both redundant and confusing and seems a little lazy. Even still, it's a good EP.
