WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Spooky Hallowe'en Music

Posted over 3 years ago
Now that Halloween's come and gone this post isn't really going to help anyone in the short term, bu tit may inspire some ideas for next year. This year was the first year I've ever handed out candy to kids, it's also the first time I've lived in a neighborhood where kids really came around asking. So last night Jenny and I sat in and watched cartoons and waited for the doorbell to ring. I wanted to have some spooky music playing out the windows for kids when they came up so I hooked up The Whale (my iPod) to my stereo and put on Fantomas' "Delirium Cordia"; roughly an hour of creepy stuff that was made by real compitent musicians (Mike Patton? Hello?). It was perfect, lots of eerie strings and synths, some metal guitar, lots of shrieks and horror, scared 'em up good, it did! So my question I pose to you, what other music is perfect for a scare on Halloween? Note: it can't be a "Spookuy Sounds" compilation cd from the store and it can't be Monster Mash, cause that song sucks.

  1. LambCurry666 says Sunn 0))) is kind of scary (besides being scarily overrated). I read that they put the lead singer in a coffin because he is claustrophobic and so that he would scream - this is the vocal track of one of their songs.

  5. Jenny Tatone says I put one of my speakers out too! I played Wolf Eyes, crrrrrreepy. One mom commmented on it, saying: Nice goth. Yes, our generation is all grown up. Oh, and I played River of Crimes, stories about serial killers and electrocutions told with eerie detail and sound affects -- I think it might have been a little too scary for the little ones, oops.
