Indeed, as you may have read I've been in Los Angeles recently and after a good shower with pumice I feel about 80% recovered. I make it seem much more dramatic and horrible than it was because "at the end of the day" melodrama is interesting and my trip really wasn't. We stayed at the Airport Marriott, out seminar was at the Airport Marriott, and the restaurants we at were also at the Airport Marriott. After arriving in LA, after the shuttle ride, I didn't go outside (except to the pool) for 40 hours.

The neigborhoods surrounding the airport complex, I was told, are not that nice and since there wasn't time or interest to go exploring the greater LA area we pretty much just hung out, ate expensive food and drank a lot. All on the company, of course. The worst part was being away from my lady. It's the longest we've been apart for about 8 months and leaving her alone with a bun in the oven was not something I was fully "onboard" with. But the company thought I was worth sending out there, and indeed, the information I gathered on the new software will aquire me some "value added" at work. The software I learned will soon become the "new paragigm standard" for our company and not all of the old codgers at work will be receptive to it. The thought is that when they retire or die or whatever that I, and the other two guys that went, will train the new meat on the new software. So I'm on the "cutting edge". Maybe I'll get a raise someday soon and my baby can eat people food! Here's the clouds outside the plane, they look like cotton candy!
