ROCKNROLLPIMP was kind enough to give access to Tenacious D's The Pick Of Destiny—which I must say is just insanely awesome. Seriously. Everyone else needs to give up. They need to hand them the Grammy for Best Fucking Album Ever.

This, though, got me thinking about their Christmas track on Kevin & Bean's Swallow My Eggnog. For the unfamiliar, The Kevin & Bean Show is a morning show on KROQ, an Alternative format radio station in Los Angeles. There was a stint where they would release a Christmas album featuring skits and rare/unreleased tracks—some of which were recorded especially for this compilation. It was a nice treat and I hope they bring it back.

In any case, one year Tenacious D and—sigh—Sum 41 collaborated on a track called "Things I Want". It is, without a doubt, the absolute greatest Christmas song ever recorded. Yes, it beats The Vandals' Christmas album, albeit just barely.

Enjoy.

  1. Spencer Owen says Man. You just reminded me of the Vandals for the first time in years. My brother used to love those guys. Wild.

  2. Pseudo Cyborg says I absolutely love The Vandals. They haven't let up, either. Their latest stuff is fantastic. Plus when you've got the insanity of Warren Fitzgerald and an option between the beyond-remarkable drumming of both Josh Freese and Brooks Wackerman... I mean, how can they not be awesome?!

  4. Pseudo Cyborg says Oh, I agree. Their new album completely wins. I'm just saying that "Things I Want" is the greatest Christmas song ever written. Two completely different things.

  5. Lord Helmet says Tru... it's right up there with Run DMC's "X-mas time in Queens" (I think that's the name)
