Now Playing On Terrestrial Stereo

Cecil Taylori don't have an airport extreme thing hooked up here at work, and i really would rather listen to music on a stereo than a computer.currently rocking this cecil taylor / louis moholo album "remembrance" on the FMP label, from an astounding set of albums taylor made during a week in 1988 at a festival dedicated to him. they came out in a box set too but i've never seen it so i've just accumulated the ones that i could over time, duos and trios with all manner of collaborators, it's a deep well!

  1. Spencer Owen says Is this set the best intro to Cecil? For some reason I feel more lost than usual when deliberating this fella (I've never heard anything by him).

  2. Portastatic says i'd say, no, not the best intro...lemme think about that.

  3. Portastatic says i think the first album i got was an LP of Looking Ahead at the Jazz Record Mart in chicago, on maybe the first superchunk stop in the windy city. what a great album, and a good intro i think... unless you just want to jump into the maelstrom with Nefertiti: The Beautiful One Has Come, or the Blue Note larger group albums Unit Structurers & Conquistador. As confounding and overwhelming as his music can be, i have to warn you that once you start it's hard to stop...

  5. 82times says Glad to see someone bring Cecil Taylor into the mogosphere. This was enough encouragement for me to buy _Sour Shores_ from emusic--like what I'm hearing so far!

  7. 82times says Digging very much--kinda Nada Surf-y + the right amount of jangles. Glad I purchased. Now come play in the bay area!
