MOG MOG

BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

(139)

This is the opening title track to one of my favorite films of the 1960s. The Flim Flam Man is a Southern Fried screwball comedy starring the late great George C. Scott as Mordecai Jones, an aging grifter who's been traveling around the South cheating people out of money for decades. Along the way he finds a young friend named Curly Treadaway (Michael Sarazzin). Curly is AWOL and on the run from the army, so Mordecai's shady way of living is just right for his current position. The two become partners in the business of "Back Stabbin', Cork Screwin' and Dirty Dealin'". Curly is a natural at grifting, but after he meets a beautiful young girl (Sue Lyon) he realizes that Mordecai's wild and crazy lifestyle isnt going to be for him in the long run. The Flim Flam Man is a special film to me and I've always loved the score by Jerry Goldsmith. Ive actually heard it reused in several other films as well. Its one of his best for sure.

Jerry Goldsmith was a great film composer.

It's a shame he's not around anymore.

Never heard of this movie... will have to check it out.

This is lovely. Not familiar with the film (or the composer per say), but will attempt to find it. Interesting post, and enjoyed the music.
