WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

New Wave Wednesdays

Some classic Philly New Wave from 1982. This ones a gem! Watching the video, it reminds me of 80s Yuppies. The robot like people on the escalator also predate Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love" video with those chicks. Its funny how early videos would take the song lyrics so literally. If your song is called "Escalator of Life"..you simply shoot people on an actual escalator lip synching the song!TRIVIA: Hazard was the guy who wrote a little song called "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" which Cyndi Lauper later had a huge hit with in 1984.

  1. SamTheButcher says I always liked that song. Did not know he wrote "GJWTHF". I guess I assumed it was just another collaboration with the Hooters. I'm glad I never saw the video when it was out, though. I would've hated the song. :) That's as crappy a vid as I've ever seen. :)

  4. SamTheButcher says Dach - IIRC, the Hooters were big collaborators with Cyndi. Yep. Wikipedia to the rescue: "With the help of Rick Chertoff, Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman (of The Hooters) as her primary studio musicians, She's So Unusual's popularity spread like wildfire."
