Blue Cheer/Black Angels

Posted over 2 years ago
The Psycadelic of Yesteryear met with the Psychadelic of today when Blue Cheer and The Black Angels played together last night at Emo's indoors (ahhhhhhh, air conditioning). The Angels played a short set with a few songs that are not on their Light In The Attic debut, Passover. They added a second drummer for some songs( A la The Warlocks) and a harmonica player on another. The band is great live and even better when they have the visuals added by Richard Whymark who was MIA last night. In talking with with the kids in The Black Angels before the show, they had mentioned that they had spent the weekend playing in Tulsa and Houston with Blue Cheer and told me to expect a very loud rocking set from them and the band that was once called the loudest band in the world, did not dissappoint. Ear bleeding loud and that was standing next to the soundboard. I've sat through shows by Ministry and Helmet and this was louder and sludgier. I stayed for a few songs and went on my way even before they played their one and only hit, a cover of Eddie Cochrane's Summertime Blues.Next show the IV Thieves (Formerly Nic Armstong and The Thieves) on Wednesday at Stubbs indoors Nottinham England's finest onn stage...check em out... http://www.myspace.com/ivthieves

  1. dj ivi says haha! in summertime, i have chosen to see concerts just because the venue offered some relief from the scorching outdoors. particularly when i lived in n'arlins, when the air conditioning made the lemonade taste that much colder!
