Beautiful South split due to 'musical similarities'

The band that came out of the ashes of The Housemartins, The Beautiful South, according to the band in their own version of musical irony, issued a statement saying "The Beautiful South have split up due to musical similarities. The band would like to thank everyone for their 19 wonderful years in music."I had been a fan of The Housemartins and later The Beautiful South. Unfortunately I never had the oppurtunity to see them. They were never popular here despite selling 1.8 million copies of their grreatest hits album. It's very British and a bit twee which maybe why they never quite caught on in the states. They are also quite literate and smart which also may ben why they never quite caught on in the states.
