  5. asrati says Ha! Rip her to shreds Jeff. A scenario in which someone of modest intellectual means is intentionally put in the position of displaying them strikes me as more than a little nightmarish - those rolling waves of chuckles are chilling. Could it be that holding the "the common people" up to scorn and ridicule is the modern day version of Rome's blood spectacles? 9. Anna says That can't be real. It has to be fake. Please lie to me.

  10. Pop Savant says She's really that dumb....and American education is really that bad....Lying isn't a good strength that I have...So where then is Greece...wait that's the name of a country??? You're kidding to me...that's a musical with John Travolta and that blonde girl...they named a country after that...wow!!!!

  14. mickimicki says Wow! Is that a Texan accent, btw? I never wanted to know it was _that_ bad... but hey, there's dumbasses in every country. And why am I even calling them dumbasses... maybe they just got their priorities closer to home... but then, even my aunt and uncle on their rather remote farm are happy to keep up with the outside world. Asrati, "Could it be that holding the “the common people” up to scorn and ridicule is the modern day version of Rome’s blood spectacles?" Yes, that could very well be. Only, Kellie's _performance_ here is hardly a case of said spectacle. That little lady has been to school, hasn't she, so she would have known what to expect: They're asking questions! Nobody forced her to go and display her ignorance on TV, even, as Chucky remarked, celebrating it... And the Circus isn't a one-way street. Don't forget the "Beauty and the Geek" type of show. There, people of modest physical appeal and/or styling skills are exposed to the scorn and ridicule of those who think they're hotter. Can somebody please cry a tear for those poor geniuses, too?

  15. Pop Savant says Micki- While Texas has plenty of dummies (I've met many of them over the 11 years I have live here) Ms. Pickler was born and raised in North Carolina. The questions are not that difficult and was in fact answered properly by a fifth grader. Just sad when any 21 year old human believes Europe is a country and French is spoken in Budapest.

  16. mickimicki says Totally... of course she should have known, and no doubt she's a total dumbass... I was just playing the dummy's advocate. Gotta admit though, I think I only learned the Latin American capitals around 7th grade, and we never got to Africa, and I went to what was considered the best grammar school in my city. So I wouldn't mind if it took a 10th grader to answer... but a grown person... I wonder how many people watch this show and get the impression that it's o.k to be ignorant :P

  17. dermahrk says Maybe they could start a new show, Are You Smarter Than A First Grader, and Kelly could host that. Or get coffee.

  18. champersnova says Whoa! Dunno if I should feel lucky that SHE knows Turkey? Ha! :-P On that "Future Evidence" clip: Chilled to bone here! Please tell me that those guys in the video are hired actors to fulfill the joke? Oh please! For the sake of the human nation that is!!

  19. Pop Savant says Sorry...public education is really that bad here. As well as an apathetic public that as a majority does not vote in elections, read newspapers or watch news stories that are not sensationalist tabloid fodder.

  20. champersnova says Looking from the bright side, I found the "diaper head" implication rather creative and funny.
