At first impression the acoustic cords sound somewhat innocent, then as the noted progress there's a hint of sadness. The faint percussion that accompanies it is almost like its impatiently awaiting something good that will shortly reveal itself, and it does.
The drum and bass revs the song up at 17 seconds, sounding slightly sinister. Then 34 seconds into the song, just as we've grown to love the bass line, vocals. No lyrics yet, just fantastic backing vocals, of one Thom Yorke and one Ed O'Brien. At 58 seconds Yorke's voice comes over again, and you instantly warm to its charm. "Just as...".
He lessens his falsetto in this song and goes for more of a rambling affect, as though he were in some sort of trance, or maybe even a little bored. Then at 1:43 he the lyrics wander off with "...before you comatose." As the drums kick off the acoustic guitar to mark the end of the first verse. Towards the end of this vocal-less segment you hear Thom whaling as though her were off in the distance, shortly followed by backing vocals starting up again, this time with a more exited sound, shifting from the original medium pitched "aaaahhh" to a higher "OOOOOO" keeping in the same tune.
Thom's main vocals start again, the same ranting-type style for a small amount of time until he gets to the phrase "the beat goes round and round" and repeats it in a yell as though it were his favorite line "THE BEAT GOES ROOOUND AND ROUND", he then on continues singing in this 'into it' sort of shout. He fades out with "JUST AS YOU TAKE THE MIC! Just as you dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance..." until it gets so quiet you can't hear him.
Then at 3:11 he starts up again in a different tune, less exited than the last verse but more emotional than the one before it, and the title of the song is mentioned for the first time. This short verse ends at 3:47, with the title as it started. The backing vocals continue for 3 seconds when at 4 minutes the song comes to a complete stop.
